"A return visit as we knew it would suit our needs to be near the city but also at the shore. Cosy and comfortable as expected and we had a good stay with mostly good weather and some lovely sunrises and sunsets. On a positive we found the excellant local playarea ,up the hill behind the church & hall in a former walled garden. Great for playing football with equipment for all ages and watching the planes flying over to airport. The walk up to Cramond bridge and the playarea there was lovely through the autumnal woods. Also got across to Cramond island this time with great views up and down the Forth. A few maintenance and equipment issues such as a window with broken catch that had to be wedged shut to keep personal conversations from cafe below being heard and a cold draught out, loose wall plug sockets, several lightbulbs out, still no glass dishes for cooking in oven or microwave and there was no folder with info on area or appliance instructions. Sofas need a good clean beneath cushions as we found out when looking for a toy. This time we were aware of more night time visits of cars with engines running and early morning dog walkers abusing the no parking on harbour, perhaps the gates need to be shut at corner overnight. The local pub which had a reputation for poor service & food is now shut so we weren't missing out as the bistro below and nearby Cramond Falls cafe are good during day.All in all a good base for exploring with just a few issues that need addressed."

"We booked this cottage thinking it was a detached property, nothing in the write up suggested otherwise. On arrival we discovered we were in a small part of the property and it was occupied by Estate Workers living at each side and above the property. One set of people in the property above were extremely noisy (drilling at 9 pm and knocking in nails at 11.35 pm) My husband shouted up to them and in return they put the washer on at 12 midnight, this cycle went on till 1.30 am as a result we could not stand it any longer and packed up to go home the next morning. The write up mentioned that it was a 4 star property - we think this should be amended to a lower rating. The property was extremely small and uncomfortable, cupboards full to the brim with crockery (no where to put our own groceries) and also no wardrobe in the one bedroom, only a peg board on the wall with coat hangers. Beds did not to our knowledge zip together. Also no wood burner in this property (this was in another property). The estate itself was lovely and the lady owner was very friendly."

"Sailor's cottage is simple beautiful. The views from the kitchen and the lounge are stunning and the walks along the river Almond are breathtaking. The house ws much bigger than we expected, and with lots of lovely, interesting features, such as the lovely little walk way through to the front door. We were there in October and the autumn colours in the area were perfect; we decorated the house with pumpkins and candlelight and had a wonderful time. I would happily live in sailor's cottage. However, we did not bring our car as we came to Edinburgh by train, and there is no local shop in Cramond, so you have to come prepared. I had a Sainsbury's delivery which worked well. The number 41 bus runs an excellent service from the village into Edinburgh and you can walk along the river up to the Queensferry road and get a bus to Queensferry to the stunning Forth Bridge."

"The cottage was nice and clean. The location was okay. We assumed the cottage was in Kinghorn but was actually on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy which disappointed us a little. Kirkcaldy golf course is lovely and my husband and son played a round there. We were very disappointed that the hot tub was not working for the whole time we were there as that was one of the reasons we booked this cottage. Although the owner was full of apologies and did try to get it fixed for us it did make our stay much less pleasurable especially when we came back from golf as it would have been lovely to relax in the hot tub. We felt the owner could have dealt with the situation better as we weren't even told about the hot tub not working before we arrived and no form of refund or other has been offered. After all the hot tub facility would have been included in the cottage cost."

"We booked North Middleton Hall as our Home Base during a trip for 16 of us to celebrate my 40th birthday. The house was in a perfect location as we had ventured out for sightseeing and golf during a 10 day stay. The house is beautiful, huge, and had plenty of room for everyone to gather for meals, recapping our day, or just to put your feet up with a scotch and cigar. Armor was very responsive, checked on us daily, and was perfectly present and invisible. The home was very close to public transportation (walking distance) which are non-golfers could use to explore Edinburgh and beyond. The grounds were serene and peaceful yet the location was close enough to the city where we were not out in the middle of nowhere. Check out The Sun Inn for a perfect dinner out and I highly recommend Delilicious Catering to provide breakfast and dinners for your group."
