"This is an idyllic island when the weather behaves itself and it was a privilege to stay here. Park is in an amazing location, but if you need creature comforts like, erm, a sofa for snuggling with your loved one, look elsewhere; we were grateful we had brought reclining camping chairs which we used to sit in front of the multi-fuel stove. The owner is charming and helpful, but slightly more obsessed with polishing the brass knobs than actually cleaning the cottage, so you will be sharing the space with woodlice and spiders - not a place to be walking barefoot as the concrete floors are covered with the occasional rug, but mostly rush matting. The kitchen is great for preparing a basic meal, but don't expect a gourmet experience as the local shops don't really reflect the diversity of Orcadian produce. Oh, and if you want a shower, it's a hose pipe that you plug in to the taps over the chipped enameled bath, with an overhead light bulb/heater to keep the Orcadian chills at bay."

"Location is everything...and at Park this is outstanding & idyllic. The setting is superb! The cottage was very well equipped...every common, and less common, eventuality catered for.The comfort & decor do need serious attention; just to get back to an adequate level...e.g. freshen up painting on woodwork, floor coverings, and wall coverings & decorations...some comfortable chairs and/or settees...totally new bed with acceptable mattress...shower available in bathroom. It would not require a lot of input...and these few improvements would completely transform the experience; and more importantly move 6's&7's up to 9's&10's...it could all be 'excellent' all-round."

"Best accommodation on our visit to Orkney. Frank was very welcoming from the off even though we turned up early. We were aware of perceived negatives, like no wifi or paying for your electricity after first £5. So we planned for it even though we are regular internet users it wasn't a problem. Lovely harbour views from the flat with coming and goings of tourist divers, fishing vessels and ferries. Local amenities are available but they are not cheap. The space we had in the flat was a positive surprise with plenty of excellent artwork. Thank you for a lovely stay."

"Very nice flat, good size and well equipped although WiFi would have been nice. Excellent location within a minute of pubs, restaurants and shops. You could see the constant harbour activity from the windows. Great for a boat buff like me. I had been to Orkney before so the beauty of the islands did not surprise me, but went to a couple of the outlying islands, Hoy and Rousay, and they were great. The Neolithic sites are always amazing and the less mystical modern attractions such as the Highland Park distillery and Orkney brewery are also pretty spiritual."
