"Everything from start to finish of the booking process with John was absolutely first class, very professional and very friendly. The online photographs do not do Par for the Course justice, the lodge did actually look fantastic in the photographs and that was obviously what made me and my family of 5 book it, but on approach we were all very complimentary on how it looked in real life and when we entered Par for the Course it just got better and better. From the fabulous downstairs bedrooms and sauna and into the amazing kitchen and dining area with such beautiful views from the vast amount of windows. The dining table and chairs seated all of us very comfortably and the kids loved the bar stools for reading and drawing on. Outside the very long and wide veranda was set with a really large table and chairs all very comfortable and where I spent many hours drinking Coffee and indeed wine (we had a very nice Chardonnay left in the vast wine chiller by John) reading whilst my children were enjoying the hot tub day and night too.Up stairs was the breath-taking lounge that can only be appreciated by actually seeing it in real life. It is absolutely awesome, with a fantastic, huge and comfortable space, seating for 8 grownups, sumptuous carpet, an incredible TV combination, including Netflix, DVD and Radio. Off of the lounge was an outside Veranda again, where I spent quite a lot of time just reading and enjoying the views and smiling to myself at some of the golfers trying to find their lost golf balls (something I can appreciate only too well). From the lounge was our bedroom and en-suite, with the most comfortable and massive of beds I have ever experienced when away from home, everyone commented on how well they had slept in their individual beds and rooms, never really expect everyone to be so happy, so it seemed that Par for the Course had definitely done it's magic yet again. The en-suite had his and her hand basins which was a great addition, as was the shower which was perfect in every sense. The sauna was in the downstairs bath, toilet and shower room which was adjacent to the 2 down stairs bedrooms (perfect). We used the sauna 3 times and I can only say it was yet another lovely comfortable and indeed very clean experience.I am a chef and have to say that the facilities were exactly what I have at my home and there was not one single utensil that it lacked, which I have to say there has never been the amount and indeed varied types of glasses, flat-ware, bowls, cups/saucers, mugs and cooking items I have ever experienced at any other holiday, home or abroad. In conclusion, Par for the Course was our best ever holiday accommodation in the UK and was just an absolute pleasure to experience and live in from start to finish. To top it all off, John came to see us off which was a lovely touch and I was very impressed as he wanted to know if there was anything we thought could be done to improve his facilities, because he was genuinely thinking about improving Par for the Course for his future guests. What a Fantastic Gentleman he is and Oh by the way, we couldn't think of anything at all, Perfect Place and a Perfect Holiday, Thank-you John."

"This cottage is in a fantastic location, a short way from Norwich, with the Broads and coast easily accessible. There are walks from the door, and it has a lovely and peaceful setting. The beds were extremely comfortable and overall the cottage was presented in an attractive manner. We were provided with plenty of towels and clean bedding. We were a small party, so the amount of kitchen equipment was just adequate. The TV and WiFi signal was good. We were able to use the 2 small sofas in the main room. The seating in the ‘snug’ was so uncomfortable that it was unusable. There were sadly a few issues with the cleanliness of the downstairs rooms, with the oven being so filthy that it set off the smoke alarms within 10 minutes of being turned on, with nothing in it! We were left with inadequate cleaning supplies to rectify this, or brush the floor. The vacuum was tantamount to useless.Note to dog owners. This is a brilliant location for dog walks, however the garden is not secure - and the owners make no claims that it is. The excellent fencing in the photos only reaches around three sides, the other side being a hedge with a bit of chicken wire with holes that even a large dog can get out of.We did not use the hot tub, because it was not hot enough and looked dirty, with foliage and dirt in it. We contacted the owner, who came to look at it very quickly, and assured us that even though the water felt luke warm, and got no warmer, it was 39 degrees; and that it had been cleaned. I’m sure he must be right, but it looked less than appealing. In short - what a shame. It was so nearly gorgeous, just in need of some care."

"Would have loved to have given higher scores , however the cottage is spoilt by ‘little things ‘ ... on reading the comments book we find that the things that bothered us had been the same for a long time , ignored and not acted on . Example ... within first 24 hours we told the owner about a broken sink in bathroom ( had to use a knife to get plug out of sink in bathroom ... mechanism broken ) ... this was still as it was when we left ... not mended as promised . Loo brush could be useful as flush for toilet very weak. Kitchen ... not a full set of plates and utensils poor. Cooker ( grill ... couldn’t get to work) inside microwave ... top surface dirty ... lots old food splashes. Not as clean as you’d expect in places Would be useful to have a mop to clean flooring ... especially if dogs trail in mud or to clean wet splashes up from after going back in after hot tub. Hot tub saved the day ... wonderful hot tub and the cottage situated in the most gorgeous area ... close to beautiful countryside for dog walks etc. Within easy reach of the best beaches . Situated in a village second to none .Owners very friendly ( made it difficult to complain about these issues that we’ve mentioned because they are so nice and even tho TLC is well overdue ... we would return as the cottage still had quaint appeal and we must say we had the best two weeks and can see ourselves returning for definite."

"Whilst the cottage could be very nice, we encountered a number of issues; individually these may be minor, but collectively they did affect the overall holiday experience:- the hot tub did not work, it was lukewarm on the first day and got colder.- there was no guidance or instructions in the use of the hot tub or sauna and we had to work it out ourselves.- there were no outside lights covering the hot tub and sauna making access dangerous without a torch.- whilst there was a dishwasher, the plates were not dishwasher safe.- a bread knife would have been useful as would a greater selection of glasses.- the blind cords were long and not secured and pose a risk to small children (we had a 1 year old with us).- the Dyson was blocked and could not be cleared so was unusable.- we asked for the bed in the third bedroom to be made up as a super king in line with the property details but this consisted of two single beds being pushed together and there was no access to different bed linen or duvet. Our experience of other cottages of this type has been of a higher standard. Whilst we were able to make do for the few days we were there, it would have been more challenging over a longer period.Overall the cottage was disappointing but with a few small changes it could have been significantly improved."

"Par for the Course can only be described as amazing! It is a very spacious lodge in peaceful surroundings. It has everything you could possibly need for a great holiday and is spotlessly clean. There is a dishwasher, high chair, washing machine and tumble drier if you need it. A wine cooler too which was kindly stocked with bottles of prosseco! There are plenty of board games and DVDs for both children and adults. We had a short break before our daughter's wedding in November, just what we needed. We spent most of the time in the lodge just relaxing and making the most of the hot tub and sauna. The weather was glorious which contributed to a wonderful holiday. The owner is contactable if you need him, he very kindly allowed us to have a late check out which was much appreciated. Our original booking was for another lodge on the same site but this was cancelled at the last minute by Cottages.com and there was much confusion, so we felt very lucky that John was able to accommodate us in his exceptional lodge."
