"Chapel Cottage I'm afraid, was a disappointment. My family and I are in the property business so I would like to give the owners, who are themselves lovely, a semi-professional well meant review:MUST DO's:1) No mirror with a decent light to shave or put make up on with.2) The 3 steps down to the kitchen are all different heights, one being a wapping 32 cm, from all safely aspects (as well as older occupants health aspects), this is totally unacceptable.3) No working bulb in the cooker hood.4) Dishwasher door does not open as the kick board prevents the door from being horizontal.5) The emersion heater is timed for 2 am and is incredibly noisy. Not even earplugs can muffle the noise.6) Water usage next door causes noise in the cottage (piping?).SHOULD DO's:1) Heat up the cottage in the winter before guests arrive if it has been unlet, as it takes nearly two days to warm up.2) The front door lock does not line up perfectly so impossible for small hands to get it to lock.3) The sofa could do with cushions as it's not exactly comfy.4) The wifi is intermittent and sometimes goes off for a whole day.5) The touch up paint in the main bedroom doesn't match and stands out quite a bit.NICE TO HAVE's:1) A curtain over the front window, swept to the right.2) One or two washing machine tablets in a clean jam jar.3) Typed out instructions, not written as some are difficult to read.4) A pint of milk for the first day/evening.5) Replace mirror over fireplace with a Lakeland scene. The mirror makes the room less homely.6) Fitted base sheet on the bed mattress. The plain one wanders around a lot.7) Provide more than one toilet roll for the week.I'm sorry this is quite a severe report, however, we are seasoned holiday-cottagers and all of the above is normally provided. I feel also that I should mention the over-all "heath-robinson" feel of the place. Some may feel this is quirky and quaint but I'm afraid I don't. For example, a sawn off broom handle for a loo flush and an unfinished stair case rail. If you are aiming for the "quirky" market then you should advertise it as so, but I think you'd be restricting your potential market."

"From the picture of the cottage,we assumed half was the cottage and half was the house-but the cottage was less than a quarter of the property. It was pointed out the property was not suitable for people with disabilities-but myself and my wife, who are pretty fit for our age,did really struggle-both going down into the kitchen and up the steep stairs. With energy saving lights and lampshades that made the room even for gloomy upstairs and down-it did give the whole place a gloomy feel.Perhaps proper light bulbs and brighter shades-and the whole place given a white coat of paint, would make it more homely. We were worried also that there wasn't a back exit-if a fire had broken out at the front door,we wouldn't have had any means of escape-which I thought made the property illegal-I thought there have to be a second exit.Luckily we took our own towel's,as just a couple of small ones were provided for the week. The bathroom goes without saying it needs a facelift and revised layout. And this day and age,I can't believe that heating by storage heater's still exist-we were freezing the first night as storage heaters have to be switched on a day before to give heat out the next day.We did use up the logs the first day-but as price included heating, why should we spend our holiday shopping for more logs.I hope these points help-it would have been easier to say 'everything was wonderful'-but I believe that doesn't help you or future clients."

"Not gonna say it's bad, as may be great for others. Things about cottage which owners can't really be blamed for but aren't ideal.First the storage heater. We had 4 people staying and unfortunately when one person's had a hot bath the others don't.2nd although grateful for allowing dogs to stay, the description of the garden where the dogs can do their business is misleading. Again not really owners fault.3rd and is owners fault, dust and cobwebs all over. Sorry but if it's cleaned weekly these simple tasks are missed.Change discription on website with regards to garden access, invest in better heating system and finally dust around whole cottage each week and would be fabulous place."

"The cottage was warm, sofa's and bed were comfortable, plentiful supply of towels and tea towels However, it did lack normal supplies, such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and bin waste bags. The emergency torch was useless as the batteries were nearly exhausted and no spares available. Generally it was clean although there were a few areas that had been missed. Bathroom mirror could be in a different place as it made it difficult to use when shaving as it was so far away. It was classed as dog friendly, but there was no direct access to rear garden from the back of the cottage, which would have been more useful especially if you take a young dog."

"Lovely comfortable lodge, we were lucky enough to get the one at the far end of the site with the woodland behind which I was hoping for. Well equipped with towels and beds ready-made. A good shower and hot water when we needed it.It would have been useful to have hooks on the walls in the bedrooms and bathroom and a bathroom bin and two of the interior doors would not close, but these were the only minor issues."
