"This is the second time in 6 months that we’ve visited the Bothy. We went for a short break in February but a whole week this time. The owners are lovely, nothing is too much trouble & the cottage has everything you could need and then more, even down to a pint of milk in the fridge, tea & coffee in the kitchen & a packet of biscuits to welcome you!! After a bad experience on a holiday park, we wanted something much more peaceful.....& that’s what we found at this beautiful, tranquil place. Our son has made friends on the farm and been able to enjoy herding sheep & checking cows. The zip wire has provided many hours of fun!! Penrith is a 20 minute drive away and there is a retail park just off the motorway with an Aldi, Iceland and Home Bargains should the need arise. There are lots of things to do within about a 30-45 minute drive. Carlisle is also about 20 minutes away with lots of restaurants, a Vue cinema & obviously the Castle!! The kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer, washer/dryer, microwave and all the usual pots & pans. There is even a slow cooker, panini press & a hand blender!! Although we didn’t need the heating this time it was lovely and warm in February. The beds are lovely & comfortable & both bathrooms have towels & toiletries. It’s a lovely peaceful location but a car is needed to see the local area. However the lanes are quiet enough to walk along and enjoy the scenery. We are already planning our next trip back, it’s everything we could possibly want from a holiday."

"We had a lovely stay surroundings lovely. We stayed on a couple of extra night's because it was so peaceful. Owner laid back and accommodating.I would return if a few changes could be made firstly a deep clean to get rid of ant problem in hall and kitchen pretty bad. Secondly the bed in double room is a bit lumpy and hard. Thirdly need a couple of more pillows in double room and finally a good high dusting of walls stonework and beams to get rid of spiders webs as this could put people off. We made the most of the break as we hadn't had one since late last year.It is a lovely barn conversion and dogs loved the outdoors so peaceful and quiet. Has everything you need even a child gate to stop dogs getting upstairs.Brampton is a short drive away for spar, co op, pharmacy great wee fruit and veg shop that gives you brown paper bags to put your items in. Great gin selection at Howard Hotel. A drive to l9ngtown you can catch the hidden river cabins cafe which serves great good staff friendly."

"This was actually a tricky review to do, the cottage is great and the location beautiful. I was however left feeling a bit, well disappointed. Its funny how sometimes in life it is the little things that you remember rather than the big things. For instance the hot water was not on, there was nothing in the book as to which switch made it work so just ended up turning them all on.What really upset me with this one was no towels, it took an age to get through on the telephone, then to find my booking, then to find out that towels did not come with the property, bedding did but not towels, I was then chastised because if towels had come with the property it would have said so!!!!! I did point out that there was a sofa there but it did not say that either, or even a roof for that matter, what an absolutely ridiculous comment to make!"

"If you are looking for a basic cottage - this will do the trick. However it was cold and wet when we went there (early May) and it took a whole day to warm the house. Thankfully there was a coal fire and supply of coal!.The living room is very cramped for 4 (it was cosy for 2 and one dog!). Everything was clean and the beds were hard but surprisingly comfortable. The kitchen is quite basic and never really got warm (even with the storage heater on). The pots and pans are very used and there is limited crockery - many of the baking dishes are heat cracked from much use. The cottage is in a reasonable location for the North Lakes and North (e.g. Hadrian's Wall). The setting itself of the cottage was very nice.Just about value for what we paid."

"Despite having booking on the morning of the day we were arriving, the hosts were extremely accommodating. We were thrilled to discover this great place. It has a cosy cottage feel with all mod cons. Very clean with every necessity supplied. Along with the basics of bread, butter and milk, there was also a bottle of wine, some local fudge some freshly laid eggs from the chickens wandering around under the kitchen window. Then Chris arrived with her gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake. The hosts Adrian and Chris were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Eager to ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We had a great time here and plan to return asap. We think that anyone who chooses to stay here will not be disappointed."
