" Myself, husband, 2 children (11 and 12) and dog have just returned from a most enjoyable stay at Skygazers.....the name is perfect as the night sky really is amazing! We did spend a great deal of time watching the star filled sky from the comfort of the hot tub! The photos really do not do the property justice. We were a little concerned that there was no photo of the front of the property but our concerns were unfounded as, in estate agent speak, it had a lovely aspect! The master bedroom was wonderful - massive bed and wardrobes with direct access to the garden. The other 2 bedrooms were also of good size, especially the family bedroom. The kitchen was modern and contained everything you could need. The lounge was cosy and there were lots of DVDs and games to keep us entertained in the evening (although we were too tired most nights after the long walks we did!) And saving the best till last - the conservatory. This was a wonderful place to eat, chat and just spend time - fantastic room. The garden was massive - plenty of room for kids to kick a ball about and dog to run around. And the negatives? To be honest very little. I would agree with earlier comments in that the walk in the dark from the house to/from hot tub was a little precarious - it is probably worth taking a torch/lantern. Also the bottom of the garden is out of bounds - not a problem but tricky keeping the dog out! Yes there were a few small issues but these were vastly outweighed by the positives. One thing that I did misread was the fact that it is a mile from the coastal path and not, as I imagined, the beach! This we discovered when we arrived and thought we'd have a walk to the beach and reached the most spectacular rugged cliff face instead! Once we'd realised our error we found wonderful beaches a couple of miles away, Duck pond was rugged and secluded and Bude golden and family friendly. Our favourite beach was Woolacombe, about 30 miles away but well worth the drive. We also enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea at the Rectory tea room - walkable distance - near the coastal path. An added bonus! "

" First impressions good however immediately noticed grass had not been cut for some time and was approx 6 inches long. Weeds were everywhere and the patio table outside was filthy. Entered property and now the good points. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with quality cooking equipment. as was the lounge, bathroom and bedrooms with nice clean linen and towels.Bed comfortable. First trip to the toilet we found the toilet seat was broken after texting the owner ( a lovely lady but who lived miles from the property ) she arranged for someone to come round and replace it. There was no welcome pack, and no logs in the basket . Further the oven was filthy again rectified ,but as the lady who cleaned it said,it needed a deep clean. The fridge freezer needed defrosting and took 2 days to get to a reasonable temperature. Two of the window pains were also cracked. The door to the cupboard containing unusable vacume cleaner was also broken. I feel horrible to give such a negative review as the weather was great and we still enjoyed ourselves at the cottage despite its shortcomings. However I would be horrified to pay over One Thousand pounds at the the height of the season for a 2 bedroom property. " BUT - nowhere in the description of the cottage does it say the bathroom is downstairs. Had we known this, we orobabkynwouldnt have booked it. Negotiating steep stairs in the middle.of the night was an achievement! - despite several reviews and comments in the visitors book regarding basic instructions for white goods, the heating etc (sadly needed in June), they are still lacking, but managed to sus them all out - despite several comments about the garden needing attention, it remains unkempt and quite uninviting - rubbish, well recycling from previous holiday makers was left in a bin bag at the back door. Despite contacting the contact number, I received no reply. However, googled collection day and sorted it myself, but don't expect to have to do this on holiday! However, great TV (unusual in holiday rentals) and the furnishings and facilities were great. Very comfortable beds and so important, dog friendly! "

"Beehive cottage is absolutely beautiful, it is clean spacious and full of character, beautifully decorated with original features but with all the modern fixtures. The cottage is set in a lovely location, just 10 minutes drive to sandymouth bay where our daughter was staying. It was well equipped with everything we needed including a nice little cream tea welcome pack. The cottage is surrounded by fields at the back, very peaceful with fabulous views. The size of the cottage is very spacious with ample space. We felt at home the moment we arrived, It was always cosy and warm with a great log fire, that we cosied up to in the evening after a day out walking. Abbey was at the end of the phone if we needed her and was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend Beehive cottage to anyone wanting to stay in North Cornwall, we go to cornwall four times a year and this is defineltly ranked as one of my favourites. Thanks for having us Abbey."
