What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Llanfihangel Y Pennant.

Mrs Hope - verified booking

"This is a very unusual holiday property. On arrival we were met by Peter who was just finishing off mowing the grass in the church yard. He was extremely welcoming and very proud to show us around this beautifully preserved church. You are staying in a former church which has been tastefully converted into a beautiful holiday cottage but still retains the original church interior including beautiful stained glass windows, church pews, font and a working church organ. The answer to the first question we were asked on our return " No the church is no longer in use so you don't have to lead the congregation on Sunday. The main living area is in the vestry and comprises of a small but functional kitchen and a comfortable open living and dining area. The two spacious and comfortable bedrooms both have TV's in them as well as additional seating areas. There is WiFi and a landline telephone which is useful as there is no mobile phone signal. Due to planning constrictions there are no clear glass windows to see out of but just step outside as the landscape is magnificent, there are many seating areas in and around the church ideal for viewing the scenery, the lake and the mountains. The area is remote the nearest well stocked shop is approx. 9 miles away in a small seaside town called Tywyn which also has a small cinema called the Magic Lantern. If you like walking there are many places to go and Peter has provided lots of info on the area and maps to help you find your way. We aren't walkers but the area is perfect for both walkers and cyclists. This was a fantastic break after we had had a busy year and I have to say I came home feeling well relaxed. This is a beautiful property and Peter should be congratulated for all of his hard work in keeping this property alive and allowing people the chance to stay in a unique holiday rental in a truly stunning location."

"There was a good supply of wood for the multi fuel stove and we had it working overtime! Wifi was excellent and although we lost TV signal from time to time, this was to be expected given the diabolical weather conditions. The bedrooms were comfortable and the showers adequate. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of comfortable seating in the sitting room. The big plus for this property was the garden and courtyard surrounding it which were secure and very dog friendly and would be a lovely place to sit in good weather. There was fantastic walking to be had right on the doorstep and the local village pub served excellent food and was welcoming and friendly. My only reservations are that if you don't like spiral staircases (and I don't) that could be problematic. As it was only my daughter and myself, we could avail ourselves of the other two bedrooms - but it could be an issue for some people. Also, I did worry at times about the cream carpet and my muddy dog. The weather was terrible and although I did my very best to clean her off, it didn't seem a very practical floor covering and I would rather have not had the stress! I love this area of Wales and this village in particular and I would definitely book this property when we visit again.Great location for walking. Local pub serves good food at a great price. Only grumble was there was not enough wood for a cosy fire each night, which is something I look forward to after a days walking when the weather is wet and windy.Equipped with everything one could possibly need."

"Lovely big cottage with stunning views across the valley. Porthmadog and Tremadog, which are both good for Pubs, Takeaway and supplies, are only a 10 minute drive away and it takes 5 minutes to get from the cottage to the main road, that's how rural it is - Lovely. We have never heard silence before, there was not a single human sound, only that of the sheep bleating and nature. The cottage is orientated East West, so sitting in front in the evening watching the sun go down over the opposing hills was glorious. We were lucky to have a week of scorching sunshine, so the farm track to the cottage was dry. After a period of rain, it could be difficult for two wheel drive cars to grip on the farm track as it is fairly steep. The living room has a very comfortable large leather suite with electric recliners, it was hard dragging my wife off of them. It is hard to criticise such a lovely cottage in such beautiful surroundings, but the cleanliness could have been better in the kitchen. The owners say that they have recently taken on new cleaners and this could be the reason. It certainly wouldn't put us off from staying here again. A great base camp for Snowdon, which is a must."
