What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Landrake With St. Erney.

- Mrs Carmichael, February 2018 - verified booking

"Fantastic Cottage in a great location. The owner left plenty of information to help you settle in including pictures of its renovation. The house was beginning to warm up as we arrived, but to manage expectations, this is a beautifully renovated home but it is still traditionally built which means it takes a little time to warm up if no one has been there before you. But don't panic, get the fire going and be patient and you will be rewarded. The bedroom above the living room is the coolest room in the house (bar the downstairs toilet) so for those who, like me, prefer things a little cooler at night; opt for this one. The beds are soft and cosy and the bedrooms and bathroom were immaculate as was the rest of the house. Cooking on a Rayburn may be a bit daunting but easy to get the hang of. The hotter the oven the hotter the top stoves are and move your pans around for different heat levels. The right one was the hottest; and keep the lids closed straight after use even while cooking to retain the heat. We cooked breakfast every morning and 3 great evening meals on it. Which leads me nicely to the Halfway House pub. The food was excellent, we had Sunday Lunch, plus 3 evening meals there. It can get busy so book a table if possible, however they are very accomodating. It is a busy locals pub untouched by gastro refits. Its warm, friendly and 20 seconds from your door. There is a local shop 1 mile away in St. Germans for emergencies but the nearest supermarket was Waitrose in Saltash about 8 miles away. We opted for a Tesco home delivery which meant we could settle straight in after unloading the car. Parking is spacious and could accommodate 3 cars but if you park on the front drive be wary of the narrow gate. Our friends reversed their estate car out but it was a skillful bit of driving. You could with a bit of maneuvering turn around and drive out but assess your options before driving in. You can always park on the road outside. Extra logs for the fire can be bought locally, we found a place just a short drive towards Saltash (3 nets for £10) but the wood was a little damp so leave it dry by the fire. The Shell garage a little further up the road by the roundabout (A38) sold better logs that were kiln dried and lasted longer but at £7.50 a bag. In summary this was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many, and would love to stay here again. This part of Cornwall is often overlooked but has so much to offer. So if you have done the usual tourist spots all before, take your time to explore the local area and its walks, villages and views"

" All facilities made available, and a great owner. Al even advised on the local restaurants and places to visit. Great knowledge of the location. As far as the cottage, this was wonderful. We arrived and parked on the driveway outside the house for the first and last nights for ease of unpacking (it may be a squeeze for a larger car but there is a separate driveway with ample room), when we arrived, we found a gift pack with eggs, milk, tea and biscuits along with fresh flowers which was most appreciated (after along drive and waiting for a delivery of shopping). The rooms are large and ample enough for a few people (there were 5 of us). All clean and tidy. All kitchen utensils available (although there are Many drawers, it took time to find them). The range cooker was easy to use (after the first time and looking at the information pack left on the desk) and there is plenty of storage for your own shopping. The lounge with dining table can easily accommodate 6 people. Due to having good weather during our stay, we did not need to use the fire. Access to sky for anyone wanting to watch the TV. There is a great utility area (washer/dryer and ironing facilities) which we used during our stay. Moving upstairs, there is a large double bedroom with en-suite, wardrobe and plenty of storage and space. We stayed on the other side of the cottage in the king size bedroom which once again was large and had plenty of storage. The bed was soooo comfy. The family bathroom is between the king size bedroom and the twin bedroom and has a separate shower in the bathroom, with a separate bath. All the rooms were decorated lovely. The location was great (near A38) about 15/20 minutes from the lovely place of Looe. The local beaches (Seaton and Downderry) are lovely and are only a 15 minute drive away (through small winding roads). We also went to Eden Project and Carlton Beach (50 mins), Newquay (55 mins), Launceston (Charlie Bear gallery and Hidden Valley - both great for families) (40 mins), Tavistock (morwellham quay - this was good, but we went when they had a Victorian weekend, not sure what this would by like otherwise) (35 mins). The Car Ferry at Torpoint (turn right on A374 all the way to the end of the road - 7 mile) takes you into Plymouth and only costs £1.50. All in all great holiday, great location and fantastic accommodation. "

"The park itself is nice and quiet and the kids loved the pool.Great heated swimming pool and very helpful owners . Thanks for a great week !Swimming pool is nice but very very small and dog area isn’t really walk able **** Owner Response***** Thank you for your comments. I was sorry to read that you felt that you were judged by the site owners on arrival. We have decided to try to meet all of our guests on arrival after reading your feedback. Guests would still have to pick up a gate key in order to drive a car in and out of the park. I was disappointed to see that you did not mark the accuracy of listing, cleanliness and facilities of the lodge (not the site) at 100% as we have high standards and you did not mention anything to me when we contacted you or when we were down at the lodge. You did say that you were a bit chilly at night even though we have had high temperatures this summer. There are extra blankets in both wardrobes and also throws on the chair and sofa in the living room that were available for you to use. We think the pool is an appropriate size for the size of the park (23 lodges) as lots of guests are out during the day and the pool is often empty. We have been in the pool with our son, daughter-in-law, 2 grandchildren and 8 other adults who were playing with a ball as well a mum and toddler. It isn't a deep pool (1.5m as the deepest) but that is because there is no lifeguard on duty. Today I went to check out the dog walk area to check it has been recently mown. I found the track to be mown neatly until it went to a single file walking track which did have a few nettles and other plants partially obstructing the way. I was however able to walk the whole way around the walk without too much trouble. There was one way down to the river which was rather steep but this is to prevent flooding. The park is in a conservation area so a lot of the plants are left fairly wild as notices around the walk advise. I advised you of another dog walk that is pleasant but needs to be driven to. I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your break 100%."
