"Overall we had a lovely stay. The cottage is beautiful and in a wonderful location, great for walking. I think the cleanliness needs to be improved, it could do with a serious deep clean, the shower head was covered in limescale (easily recitified) pots, pans, plates and cutlery all needed washing before even using them due to grease and dirt. Baking trays in the oven covered in someone else’s food. I was also surprised that there was no stair gate for the top of the stairs, been child friendly you would have thought this was a must due to the stairs steepness. Having a 2 year old we had to barricade the stairs with boxes and bags so he didn’t get out of bed on a night and fall down them. In the welcome packs and cottage information packs I felt that it was very over the top on how clean you should leave it. Yes we know been self catered you would intend to leave it as you found it bar changing beds and cleaning bathrooms however been a dog friendly cottge also it states there must be no trace whatsoever that dogs were even here. I found myself cleaning like a maniac on the morning of departure in case someone came to find me for leaving a single dog hair!! ( my dogs do not shed) but we pay £20 extra per dog, I’m not sure what this is going towards if it isn’t going towards a more thorough clean after we’ve left? There were lots of rules and regulations to follow which isn’t a great way to start a holiday. And lastly I was hugely dissatisfied to find out later after booking with you that on another website I wouldn’t have had to pay for my dogs and I also would have paid a lot loss for my holiday. I will not be using your company again."

"A very lovely, quirky, well appointed period cottage with original features and positioned well with fantastic views. The owners, Cath & Phil, made us feel very welcome and wanted us to feel at home in the cottage during our stay and couldn't be more helpful. Our journey wasn't a long one but being able to have a cuppa and enjoy some lovely home baking that had been left for our arrival was greatly appreciated. Little touches with the wild flowers collected for the cottage rooms made it feel homely and for dog owners there is the use of a dog bed, food & water bowls, towels, doggy bags & those all important treats..... Our little puppy settles very well during our stay. We had everything we needed for our stay as the kitchen was well equipped but if you fancied eating out the pub was just a short stoll away! Numerous maps & books were available and we even had a little note left on our door with tips on local walks in the area. The cottage is a short drive to the beach, the local town of Cockermouth and the Lakes are reached in no time! We had a lovely week in a fantastic little cottage in a great place! "A wonderful cottage full of character and features offered by great hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in August 2019.From the lovely welcome gifts to the contents of the cottage - all has been taken care of providing you with a relaxing, comfortable experience. The cottage is set in a quiet area in beautiful surroundings and we loved looking out the bedroom window seeing the sheep grazing within a great backdrop.Had great nights sleep due to the comfy bed and the walk through shower room although contemporary has great features.Coming from a city, this was the ideal cottage we were looking for and ticked all our boxes. Even though it was August we made sure to enjoy the wood burner every evening. All parts of the cottage has so many unique touches which pleasantly surprised us. Looking forward to our next visit and will be recommending to all.If your looking for a traditional cottage full of features with comfort in mind - Definitely consider Springlea Cottage in Deanscales."

"Very comfortable, generally well equipped cottage. No ice tray (which seemed odd), and there were dvds provided but no means of playing them. There was an xbox which, after phoning the admin office, we discovered had the ability to play dvds, but only if you download an app onto the xbox. You needed a login to do this, which obviously we don't have. It would be much simpler to spend £25 on a small dvd player for guests to use.Maybe we've just been spoiled by other cottages we've rented, but it would have been nice to have a little welcome pack on arrival, even just with a couple of tea bags and coffee sachets. There was no salt and the liquid soap in the bathroom ran out on the third day. These little touches can make all the difference. Having said all that, we would rent the cottage again as we had a lovely time there. (My daughter wants me to mention how comfortable the beds are too!)"

"We had an excellent holiday at Grey Walls. The cottage was very spacious, yet warm, cosy, comfortable and welcoming, even in the most appalling weather at the start of the week. We were a group of four adult couples and one dog, and found the living room and dining room perfect for spending time together, but there was always space for people to have a bit of time out from the group when they wanted it. The location was truly superb. Everyone (including the dog) loved the ever-changing views from the house, and there is plenty of fell-walking straight from the door - we barely used the cars. Red deer rutting season had started, and we could see and hear the stags up on the fell, and a red squirrel visited the garden. Something for everyone."
