"This is a lovely old character property dating from 1700's with much history situated in the centre of a small village close to the church. The accommodation was functional & comfortable & adequate for our needs. We were a group of 3 (a couple + 1 single) so there was plenty of space with a choice of bedrooms - there are bedrooms on the ground & first floors, with a shower room & separate toilet to the ground floor then bathroom (shower over bath) & toilet to the first floor, meaning we each had our own privacy & facilities; we all found the beds comfortable. Towels & bedding are provided. Each floor has a separate water tank with plenty of hot water and good showers. Heating is provided by electric wall heaters & you pay separately for the electric by euros at the end of your stay - the weather was a little chilly for the first couple of days (mid May); we only used the heater in the kitchen occasionally, the lounge for a couple of hours each of those days, then the bathroom towel rail for morning showers - cost for the week was circa 13 euros so very minimal add-on cost. The kitchen was well equipped and the hob, separate oven & microwave meant we were able to self-cater very easily. There is a private gravelled courtyard with planted area & a few folding camping-style chairs available - outside dining is by way of a picnic-style table with benches. It is quite a suntrap for late afternoon & evening 'sunning' after a busy day's sightseeing & the resident birds' birdsong was a delight. The nearby church does have the bells rung but this seemed to cease after 10pm & not start until 7am, with occasional peels (which we assume were for services) - we didn't find this a problem but if you are sensitive to noise don't let it put you off, just take ear-plugs just in case :) Large English TV to the lounge with plenty of seating. Pre-arrival information was clear & helpful, in-property information detailed & local English agent on hand if we needed her. There was plenty of free parking nearby in the car park opposite the end of the property."

"Had a very good holiday here, with plenty of helpful advice from the English owner online and a visit from the local English lady and gentleman who help look after the house. Well equipped with plenty of room for all ten of us. Location is very good (only just over half and hour from Dunkirk) and we made good use of the local boulangerie which is within easy walking distance. Ideal site for visiting Ypres and other war sites, St Omer is nearby and also it's a shortish trip to Bruges. Only issue we had was with the electricity supply which "tripped" when we needed both heating (at the beginning of the week) and to use appliances at the same time. We were warned about this by the owner prior to arriving (it's a French supply issue) and once the weather warmed up it was no longer a problem. Very good value for money."

"Fantastic. Would 100% recommend. The gite was clean, tidy and well stocked with everything you'd need for a fabulous self catering holiday. Florian, was super helpful and friendly, showed us around the place when we arrived and was on hand if we needed anything, his little dog Jackson was a cutie too, who always welcomed us home after our day trips. This gite is a great base to explore many of the local historical sites and is also equidistant from both Paris and Brugge (1.5hrs - 100% recommend Brugge for the day) if you fancy trotting out further afield. There are no local shops, the Intermarche is a 15 minute drive a way.We are a family of 4, with 2 children. We would definitely return."

"We stayed in the house for 5 nights in June 2019. Our host Rudy was very relaxed and congenial with a great sense of humour. We felt welcome and looked after. The house itself is beautiful and full of quirky features such as the downstairs toilet being located behind a book shelf! The garden is very large, well kept and colourful. Kids will love it. They will also love the games room that features a pool table, table tennis, table football and a darts table or as I call them stick ball, bat ball, one ball and no ball! The surrounding area is filled with small villages, historic sites, pretty towns and lots of country side. Overall 10/10"

"Comfortable cottage close to the town centre and a pleasant park for dog walking. Plenty of other areas for dog walking along the canal towards St Omer. Intermarche close by, as is the vets. Sadly, the boat lift is being renovated,so inaccessible at the moment. Also, the Aa valley Train Touristique only runs on Saturdays and Sunday's and not all of them, so we also missed going on this because the letting is Saturday to Saturday. If you want to go on the train, arrive early on Saturday morning and check the timetable online. St Omer has a lovely park with free parking."
