What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Gwinear Gwithian.

Keith - verified booking

"The venue is set in some lovely grounds and our accommodation was ideal, clean, well decorated and furnished, everything we needed seemed to be provided for a comfortable stay. What let the stay down was a seemingly lack of customer service from the staff that was just not up to what I would expect from a high end holiday park. I sensed the venue was in a lower gear sleep walking out of a winter sleep in the process of preparing the park for summer and not quite ready for spring or easter holiday guests. There has been a lot of work going on in and around the park and the restaurant/bar area was open looking inviting and attractive. However I was disappointed to see staff sat gossiping in the public lounge area at the bar whilst the restaurant area remained left uncleared or tables wiped down and cleaned from the lunch time sitting. At least 5 tables were left cluttered and spoiled in a complete mess that took the shine and ambiance of what should have been a jewel in the crown of the venue. I am all for staff engaging and relaxing with guests that makes for an inviting stay and enhances the experience but at least get the important jobs done and out the way first. It didn't help either when we went for an early breakfast to celebrate a birthday that the restaurant/café/bar was closed on a Saturday between 9am-10am when that was the advertised earlier opening time for a SATURDAY both on our new and updated guest packages along with the advertised times at the bar. When queried this with staff they appeared confused and seemed to have forgot this was the new opening times and after checking the details they apologised - It felt like the two young staff had recently started there as neither had any idea and seemed half asleep and not to know what day it was.The pool/sauna area was still unfinished and looked like it was nearing completion. What with at least a dozen contractors working together it looked like the job had fell behind and people were frantically trying to get it finished for the easter weekend. What I could see looked like this will be a high quality pool area. Unfortunately, combined with the two lodges being laid with new roof tiles and refitted next to our lodge along with a nearby car park converted into a builders yard, the noise of hammers banging constantly, drills buzzing, builders shouting and plant vehicles reversing all day - it did resemble a nightmare 1970s Spanish hotel building site on a few occasions. Thankfully we went out each day. In fairness we were aware of some upgrading of the venue prior to booking as displayed on the web site and I had called and spoke to the park before we booked but had been led to believe this was restricted to the bar/restaurant and pool areas. The pool area was promised to be open at some point during our stay but I never expected that for one moment. We had to wait for the builders to leave site each day before my wife could relax on our balcony and make use of the hot tub or eat out or even simply read a book in peace.Although disappointed overall with our stay - with understating the extent of building work on site particularly next to the lodge allocated to us, the lack of staff awareness to detail and below par customer service for a high end park - I would recommend it as a place to go and stay even with a higher price tag and expect to go again to give it another try. It is a lovely place, set in nice grounds but in my view and experience of customer service and public relations lacked a team switched on to the task and without clear direction."

"The property was very comfortable and had all mod cons. WiFi was excellent. Might be good to note that although garden is enclosed, it is not secure and with the neighboring property keeping a small herd of sheep, this proved problematic for us with our young puppy who was very inquisitive and would like to pop over the wall to visit. It may also be of note that there is no path on the road directly by the property so a walk to the local shops/pub is virtually impossible. That said it was located in a great position to explore surrounding towns. Just to add we came back one afternoon to no power, contacted Sykes and problem was resolved within the hour, great service.Great location for exploring cornwall and we felt like it was a home away from home.Nice rural location and quick access to Gwithian beach.Having the fenced garden for the dogs was perfect."
