What our customers are saying about our Big Self Catering Holidays In Grange Over Sands.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Grange-Over-Sands is an ideal location from which to explore the Lakes and a very pretty town in its own right with lovely ornamental gardens, great shops and spectacular views over the bay and good to stroll around. There is a very handy recreation ground 5 minutes walk away which is a great place to exercise the dog. The cottage was larger than expected, immaculate and extremely well equipped. We wanted for nothing, and it was presented beautifully, ideal for my dog with a well enclosed garden and plenty of space for her to run around. The house did not smell 'doggy' at all when we arrived. There was even a dog bed and bowl provided. I really cannot think of anything which was not as I would have wished. My only reason for not giving a top rating for the accuracy of the description is because it was described as a 10 minute walk to the shops. I think this is a little optimistic. I am a good walker and the main part of the town which you would need for bread and milk etc is at least a 15 minute walk or possibly 20 if you are not a brisk walker. Also the walk back is quite a steep climb - good if you want to get fit on your holiday but realistically a trip in the car if you are stocking up with provisions. We found several excellent pubs to eat, all in Flookburgh. Overall my rating is excellent, many thanks for all the effort in providing such a good service."

"Our son booked this cottage for a family weekend for my 70th birthday. There were twelve of us, 9 adults and three children aged 5, 3 and 2. The five bedrooms were large and well equipped and just the right combinations for our family groups. The first floor bathroom was enormous and the second floor shower room a good size. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped as was the utility room. The dining room had seating for twelve and the lounge space for the adults. The second floor open-plan lounge area would have been ideal for teenagers to have their own space. As it was, it was used by my youngest daughter who had the little girls decorating a cake and presents out of my sight! Above all, the whole place was spotlessly clean. The only downside, although not a major problem, was the key collection. It was fine when we arrived as we came by car but my husband and I decided to have a night on our own on the Sunday when everyone else went home for school and work next day. We do not drive and although the Pheasant Inn said it was only a mile and a half away it was on narrow country lanes with no pavement and heavy traffic - not a place for country walking! We managed to get a bus there but then had to call a taxi to take us on to the railway station. A better system for people without transport would be helpful. However, we loved it and are all agreed we will do it again."

"Very disappointed with the cottage the online description was inaccurate and did not give a true reflection of the cottage. The downstairs accommodation was basic and in need of redecorating and not overtly clean it was dark and dismal and the space inadequate for 10 people ( it was advertised as sleeps and accommodates 12 ! Upstairs and bedrooms were slightly better though very basic didn’t look as if they had had a thorough clean and the shower on the 1st floor bathroom very basic the water cut off when having a shower if anyone turned on a tap or if the dishwasher was in use. Outside was also very much in need of an update and looked very neglected it was not a place where we could sit out and relax on the lovely sunny evenings we had during our stay. I have booked several holiday cottages through Skyes in the past and have always been very impressed and exceeded expectations and I am very disappointed with our recent holiday experience."

"( we had arrived on the Friday afternoon for a weekend break ). Fortunately, the key holder, who was exceptionally pleasant and helpful, was able to introduce me to the owners who were currently staying in an annex to the property. I said that this intrusion was unacceptable and they should not have made this arrangement knowing that the property was let for the weekend. They did say they would alter the viewing ( which they did ) but it didn’t get the weekend off to a good start. The only other problem we had was that there was insufficient hot water for one of the showers and the electric shower was also very poor with fluctuations of temperature.Access to the Lakes was fairly straightforward and there were lots of other things to do nearby. The cottage was spacious and had enough bedrooms and showers/w.c for 4 adults, 4 kids and one dog. The owners were very helpful and fixed a couple problems that we had."

"We arrived on a very cold day but the efficient central heating system soon had our cottage cosy and warm. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable break. The bedrooms were lovely with very comfortable beds.....it was good to have two bathrooms with two showers and a bath. We liked the upstairs lounge t.v room which was ideal for the children to play on their I-pads and watch tv in the evenings. No trouble getting online...good signal. Lovely little village with a convenience store and post office and chip shop and pub. We parked 3 cars on the side drive which was good because the road soon filled up with parked cars in the evenings. We enjoyed our short time here and wished we could have stayed longer...we spent Saturday 2/12 in Hawkshead at the Christmas craft and market event and it was beautiful."
