"The Manor House is a beautiful and comfortable property, spacious and very well equipped and appointed. Very nice touches, like toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers, and a nice food parcel including bottles of prosecco and beer. Naomi (the owner) visited the evening we arrived and was quick to address a couple of minor issues such as light bulbs not working and the washing machine door which had been broken by the previous tenants (it was already booked for repair, and indeed was repaired the day after we arrived). I only have a couple of minor niggles; one was a lack of storage in some of the bedrooms (eg. no drawer space) which seemed odd given that the rooms were all easily large enough to accommodate a chest of drawers! Also, in the kitchen, the crockery/glass/cutlery supply was more than ample, but we did note a lack of large pans, which was strange given that the house sleeps 16. The largest saucepan was only just big enough for one packet of pasta. There was a large heavy wok and some Le Creuset cookware but none of this could be used on the induction hob, only the Aga, and it was very heavy to lift. Minor issues though - it's a lovely property and I'm sure anyone holidaying there will have a great week!We visited the nearby pub (Lydd Arms) a couple of times including once for dinner. They were very friendly, although because we were such a big group we had to pre-order our food 1-2 days which took a bit of organisation."

"Myself, family and friends really enjoyed our stay. The owner (who lives in the bunglalow attached to the property) was really welcoming. Provided us with some milk, tea and coffee, told us about nice places to go to and walk around. He was also very kind in understanding how late we would be arriving due to a 6 hour journey. The house was quite cold at the time of year we went and we needed to have the heating on quite a lot. However we were told that the place had been insulated fully, unfortunately it’s just an older building so it’s just how it is. Area was convenient to visit places like Puzzle Wood, Clearwell Caves, Cardiff, Forest of Dean, Bath etc so a good middle ground. Only problem we had, one of our friends stayed in the single room and they couldn’t sleep due to springs digging into their back, so we swapped the mattress with one of ones in the twin room which was a lot more comfy. Overall, I would recommend this place as a great middle ground if you’re planning on visiting lots of different areas, owner is really lovely, nice big kitchen for cooking and a nice property.Thank you for our lovely stay!"

"We had a great time staying here - the house itself was lovely but we had an issue with the heating and hot water because a gas delivery hadn't arrived. Had this not been the case we would have scored this a 10 overall. The owner was fantastic and did everything they could to get us hot water, even to the extent of buying us extra kettles so we could give the toddlers their baths a bit easier (instead of boiling water in the kitchen and running it upstairs). They gave us extra wood for the fires as well and it really did feel like they did everything they possibly could to sort the issue. We intend to go back to either this house or one of the owner's other houses though as they were lovely, large and very well equipped. There is also a pool table and table football in the courtyard which I think is missing from the description on this site and probably should be added in!"

"The location was beautiful, and I can’t imagine a more picturesque setting to the rear, being surrounded by streams - the dog loved it! The house was beautiful, and as a construction degree student I loved the interior design. The area was good too, rural enough to be out of the hubbub but not too far from Chester or Nantwich. My only problem was that as we used all the bedrooms and my grandfather needs level access so had the annex bedroom, my husband and I in the ground floor bedroom had to either go outside and into the kitchen to use the toilet or risk intruding on the people in the bedroom above ours and going two flights of stairs to the toilet. That was not a reason to not comeback though, and are planning to return for our tenth anniversary!"

"We found this cottage to be up there with the best of the best, it wanted for nothing.Anyone renting this cottage will not be disappointed, there is a sports field behind the cottage which is ideal for kids to play without the aid of a computer or mobile phone,or dog walking, my old terrier took on a new lease of life galloping around,I even did a bit of galloping myself.Pub just across the road, eat in or takeaway, my last night there was music on, not loud, finished at 10.45.Cottage owners Dave and Lou are really nice people who go that bit further for you.Louth is 8 miles away for your ALDI,MORRISONs, TESCO shop, lovely old market town, has lots to offer."
