"I'm conflicted in this review but want to be totally honest (otherwise what is the point of these reviews...)The cottage location is excellent and we had some stunning walks down to the coast and then along the coastal path (which to the east follows the top of the downs). We also had an excellent dinner at the local pub, enjoyed the Christmas morning church service in the village church and cooked an excellent Christmas dinner in the cottage's well equipped kitchen. In addition the cottage is set back from the road through the village, has good parking and has good access from the garden. So lots of positives. The negatives are few but important. The cottage is like going back in time to your grand parents, its needs new flooring downstairs (the carpets look old, as does the three piece suite). Equally the shower in the bathroom has good pressure but no real mixer & no thermostat, hence the temperature wanders around. The worst thing though are the beds whose mattresses are old and spongy. We started in the main room but I slept poorly because at 6 feet and with a foot rest it was hard to get comfortable. I also woke up with backache - something I never suffer from - presumably because of the spongy mattress. We then moved rooms to the one with two single beds, they were a bit better but we all left the house after 4 days grumpy because the sleep quality was poor. Note that I spend probably a week away per month in hotels around the world so I'm used to different beds, however I really think that sleep quality is important and hence IMO the mattresses all need replacing. To conclude I wouldn't return to this cottage until the above negatives had been resolved."

"The overall rating is justifiable in that the whole experience was better than expected in most aspects, and even the couple of minor issues were dealt with immediately, in a manner befitting the top class service that the owners provide. From the moment we entered the area, we were surrounded by a peace and tranquility that started the holiday mode immediately. Entering the cottage, and following the very helpful instructions and guidelines that were sent by email, we were taken aback; the pictures online did not do Jasmine Cottage justice. It was so beautiful, cosy, and warm, with a welcome package that included a delicious sponge cake! Both myself and my wife were so inspired by the Cottage, that it wasn’t long before we were unpacked, and either lounging in the conservatory, with accompanying birdsong, or in the sitting room, in front of the real log burner; in both cases, a book in hand, and a plan of doing absolutely nothing! There was only a few cars that passed by, but other than that, just the sounds of nature. There was even the hooting of an owl each night, which was a special treat. To finish the day, we had a choice of either a walk-in shower, with lots of room, or a chrome clawed roll-edge bath, which again, was an indulgence that is the whole “Jasmine Cottage Experience”.For the times we needed to top up our shopping, It was only 10-15 minutes by car to the local Tesco, or maybe a touch more to either Blandford Forum, Sturminster Newton, or Dorchester.Highly recommended."

"An absolute stunning location. Central to surrounding areas; Bakewell, Chatsworth, Matlock and the like. The apartment was homely. Almost everything was there to make our stay a pleasurable one, and the romance of sleeping in a four-poster bed was in deed a bonus, as was the bottle of fizz and chocolates. The decor is very dated though, with a few scuffs and chips around the place, and looked like something Great Aunt Emily would be proud of. The apartment would benefit greatly with the addition of WiFi. But most of the surrounding pubs and hotel bars had free WiFi, so a nice evening walk to the pub wasn’t all bad.The allocated parking space is a definite God-send, but, be warned, it is very tight to reverse in to. It was a shame that on Wednesday morning the scaffolding unexpectedly arrived to spoil the beautiful views from the living-room window and obscured our “people watching” experience.Over all, we had a very nice, relaxing break at the Savoy. The big downers were the lack of WiFi and the appearance of the scaffolding. Both of which we feel could’ve been mentioned on the phone by the owners before hand."

"Low score given to recommendation as this depends on your mobility. Very steep access drive and alternative steps. There are a lot of different levels in the gardens. We had expected grass to have been cut. Thought approach to property was spoilt by tall weeds on both sides of access. On arrival at 4pm ( which we personally thought was a late check in time anyway? We were made to wait by the owner until 4.45. She had blocked car access so we couldn’t even unpack. No refund was given. Cleanliness:our first impressions were that the property was clean and well presented however ; oven racks were dirty..cleaned in dishwasher ourselves. This was mentioned to the 2 cleaners who arrived as we were departing. Vacuum cleaner did not work. Soiled plaster was found In bedroom. Local Italian restaurant very good. Locals very friendly."

"Lovely warm comfortable modern cottage, delightful hot tub and swimming pool. Could do with a little more kitchen equipment, ie teapot, chopping board serving dishes. Would be nice as well to have a little washing up liquid, a couple of tea bags, a little sugar, couple of coffee sachets and small carton of milk and a few logs to see you through the first night as nearest shop is a mile and half away. Log burner (which we didn't use because the cottage was lovely and warm) a bit of a worry when lit with no fire guard if you had small children with you - there is a warning notice not to light it if you have children with you. Lovely friendly collie pup good with people but not with other dogs. Apart from that a lovely spot with a magnificent view and we had an enjoyable time."
