"We booked Leyburn Manor for three nights including Valentine's Day. The idea was for our children and grand-children to get together all under one roof. We arrived first and were absolutely blown away with everything we saw. I couldn't wait for the rest of the family to arrive. I can still hear their gasps of "wow" and see the looks of wonder on their faces. There were seven children ranging from two to eleven years. Nine year old Jack made straight for the snooker room - he loved it. This was also popular with the adults. The younger children enjoyed the freedom of space and needed very little in the way of any other entertainment. Wonderfully comfortable beds set in huge bedrooms with ample spacious, interesting bathrooms. All nineteen of us sat round the dining table for Sunday dinner. Cooking together in the well equipped kitchen was fun. I loved the house so much I could have spent all my time in it. We did, however walk to Leyburn and two families explored the castle and the children played in the house's garden. A beautiful house in a lovely part of Yorkshire."

"Vane house is situated in osmotherly couldn't of picked a better village to stay in .we were given an early check in so had a full first day there, owner rang us with directions and how to pick key up and left us a welcome pack of butter ,bread and milk .we were a party of 2 and one large dog and found the place big enough for us ,fantastic shower ,comfy beds ,but tv could be placed diff as had to crane necks to watch ,was a bit cold in a morning and even when I turned knobs on radiators there was no heating ,I did get the towel rail to work though to dry towels ,owner was very polite when ever we saw him and asked if everything was OK ,great secure off street parking provided with our annexe ,overall was a lovely 4 night stay booked few days before so got a good deal ,would definatly stay again if in that area"

"Location was very good but spoilt by poorly equipped cottage. Everything supplied felt like the cheapest you could get.Cottage was not very clean when we arrived. We found some 'Pills' on the floor in the bedroom -no idea what they were! Kitchen blind fell out of ceiling when we tried to close it!!!!Kitchen equipment was limited and not clean. Saucepans had burnt food all over the inside of pans, as did the frying pan, the plates/bowls mostly chipped -need to be replaced. We were not prepared to use them - unhygienic to say the least.Opened wardrobe in bedroom and the wardrobe almost on top of me !!Best local food at 'The Old Stone Trough' Good quality, good price, very friendly, and also dog friendly."

"The apartment seemed fine at first but once settling in we quickly realised that things were not quite so good. For example we had to hang our clothes in kitchen cupboard when there is ample room in bedroom for some kind of wardrobe. Also the television couldn't be watched from the sofa as they were not even remotely facing each other. There needs to be a few more basic utensils etc in the kitchen e.g a measure jug to name one. When we stepped outside we were looking directly into another person's bedroom so we stayed inside out of respect for their privacy. All in all we were slightly disappointed."

"I have already put in a complaint about Vanehouse apartment. Owner tried to change check in time. There was no heating, in January, with frost on the ground. When he eventually got it working it went off at 9pm every evening. He refused to provide an alternative heating source.Lovely full size dishwasher but only 2 knives, 2 spoons, 2 mugs, 2 plates rendering the dishwasher useless! No welcome pack not even a pint of milk.Very disappointing. All our gripes could have been rectified but the owner was rude & unhelpful & this business clearly comes 3rd after his driving lessons & B&B!"
