"This is a very attractive, comfortable, clean cottage set in lovely Ayrshire countryside attached to the friendly helpful owners home. The views are gorgeous and on a good day you can see Arran and lots of wildlife from the cottage windows. The website pictures do not do the place justice. Andrew the owner is very friendly and on hand for any advice or problems but leaves you to enjoy the peace and beauty of this often overlooked area otherwise. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge which was a much appreciated by us after a long journey. There was even a pack of treats for our dog....some cheesy treats which he loved despite usually not being a fan of such things! We really enjoyed the local beaches and little towns, eg Troon and had a fantastic day trip over to Arran. We had come for my father's funeral in Glasgow (this is also close by) but ended up having a really lovely holiday week. It has the peace of the countryside but there are lots of supermarkets nearby for provisions and there is a popular Indian restaurant within walking distance. And we didn't find the roads bad at all unlike a previous review. You just have to drive with care nearby, as with all country roads. The cottage itself is in a quiet lane with a beautiful ruin nearby. So overall, this is a great place to have a holiday, near the beautiful Ayrshire coast but also the attractions of Glasgow."

"We’ve just returned from a fantastic week at Greendale Cottage. If you’re wanting a relaxing break in a rural location then this is the place to be. The owners are lovely and welcoming and we especially loved visiting their farm in the next village and feeding the lambs!!The cottage itself is very clean, homely and has everything you will need, in fact this is probably the best equipped kitchen we have holidayed in. We tended to get muddy when out walking so the washing machine came in very handy. It was great to light the log fire on an evening and watch the sun go down out the lounge window. The views are outstanding from every aspect of the cottage with lots of walking from your doorstep. There are lots of places to visit within driving distance - Kilmarnock, Glasgow, Irvine beach and local country parks. There is also a fishing lake literally yards away from the cottage. All in all this is a fabulous place and we would love to go back!!"

"The cottage was lovely and the owner (from a phone conversation) delightful and obviously very committed to furnishing/developing the cottage. The setting is great, and it's lovely to be able to bring our dog on holiday. There were a few minor glitches - mainly that the kitchen lighting was very bad. Not a problem during daylight hours, but we arrived after dark and it was a bit difficult to see what was what. I already know that this is a problem they are aware of and will be sorting out so it certainly wouldn't stop us from going again or from recommending it.The only other comment I'd make is that each of us, at one point or another, nearly fell down the step to the ground floor loo because it isn't an obvious step. The floor at both levels is the same so I guess it creates an optical illusion. It might be a good idea to paint the step, or the edges of it, a contrasting colour to make it more apparent."

"This is a great place to stay. The owner is great and very helpful. We spent a week here with our two Shih Tzu's and they loved it with the big garden fully enclosed except the gate but they never even tried to go though it. Inside is very clean and comfortable with everything you would need. We were even able to record a programme we wanted to see so that we were able to see it later in the week. Beds clean and comfortable. Shower great with a bath if you would rather use. Only down side is the local drivers who think that the lane outside is a race track as they now it well, so be very careful when driving around corners. (Buy a dashcam for evidence). We had our Grandchildren stay for 2 nights and were made very welcome. The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits is a very nice touch by the owner. All in all, I would recommend this place to all and will be returning ourselves in the future."

"The house was immaculate. The facilities within the property could not be faulted (once we had worked out how to enable all 8 of us to have hot water for a shower). There is so much space to be able to spread out. The location is good with a small town only 15 minutes away, the coast only about 25 minutes away, and Glasgow accessible by train very easily. The only slight downside was the drive way up to the house from the road - there are a lot of pot holes and it has to be negotiated very carefully. If this could be improved, then there's not a lot more this place needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, the welcome pack helpful and a good stock of some provisions available. One other point for consideration, would be to clarify the recycling process, which bins have what waste, what can be recycled etc? It was a bit of guess work, and all authorities have different guidelines for what can be recycled."
