"We didn't know quite what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised with the lodge itself. It had all we needed and more, including a record player! haven't used one of them in years! The lodge is one open living area, but with the bedroom part effectively separated from the kitchen/lounge by the bathroom. The bed was really comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed and the lounge had a tv with sky+ (and of course the record player). Quite a lot of the walls were covered with raw wood panels, looked really effective and a rather quirky wooden chair in the bedroom. There is a small private piece of "garden" off to the side of the lodge (to the side of the summer house), with patio table and chairs, and a lay-z-spa hot tub for your use (small extra cost). The lodge is sited between stables and the owners thatched house, the end of which is let out as Longhouse cottage. The lodge overlooks a paddock used by the six Alpacas, although they seemed to spend most of their time in another field beyond the house, they did come up at feeding time (opposite the lodge). The whole site is down the end of a rough road/track so is very secluded and peaceful. The owners were a really nice couple and very friendly. The location is good for access to East Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth, as well as the New Forest, just about 5 miles to the main A31. Roads can be quite busy at peak times of day, so I'd recommend planning that in. There are some nice quiet roads away from the main ones if you like to take the "scenic" routes. We ate out a few times locally; Drusillas Inn, Horton was OK. We ate twice at The Old Inn, Holt, first time (Steak night - Monday) was good, second time, while the food was good service was sloooooow. In short the lodge is a really nice quirky relaxing place. On our list to re-visit another time, thoroughly recommend."

"Well presented lodge just like the pictures shown. Welcomed by both owners upon arrival and departure which was a lovely gesture. Wasnt expecting all the little things thought of...i.e: tea, coffee, sugar, milk and even some bicis, also complimentary toiletries in both bathrooms.... dont drink but also 2 bottles of alcohol in the fridge. Even had washing powder and as we had an 18month old definitely came into use! We had a lovely time here and due to a family emergency couldnt make it on the friday booked and the owners were really understanding and allowed us to stay an extra day and arrive a day later at no extra cost! Hot tub was amazing...older 2 children enjoyed it however we only managed a couple of times due to our little one. Lovely weather during our stay...managed to go out and take the kids out..lovely views and walks. On the negative side we think this may be more suited for adults or families with older children not toddlers! If your looking for peace, quiet and a relaxed break this is definitely the place to be! Thankyou Mr & Mrs White."

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Whitey Top Lodge. The lodge is very comfortable and clean, with everything you need and more! The owners Julie and Peter are very friendly and helpful. Apart from the crows (which are just part of the country-feel) it was very quiet, which we love. The only reason why we won't be going back there is the fact that another lodge will be built next to this one and we are very fond of our privacy. For anyone who doesn't mind that or even likes to have neighbours, this is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your vacation. We wish Julie and Peter all the best!"

"A gem of a place to stay - off the beaten track but within easy reach of the New Forest and other fabulous places to visit in this beautiful part of country. 'The Lodge' was a very comfortable and relaxing place to return to after a busy day, so much so we just flopped out there of an evening, had a chat with the alpacas or wiled the evening away in our private garden. The owners Maria and Lee were very friendly and helpful often suggesting great places to visit we would not have known about otherwise. A brilliant fortnight's holiday and we wouldn't hesitate to book again."

"It's such a beautiful place, like home from home and incredibly well equipt. The location is incredible! so peaceful and quite. If your like us and want as much privacy as possible, this is definitely somewhere you need to visit! The hot tub is a amazing added bonus. The owners Juile and Peter are absolutely lovely, so helpful and accommodating. We even got the chance to watch the cows being milked! This literally made the trip for us, our 4 year old son loved it! We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to get up close and learn about the process."
