"start off by saying how fabulous the staff were at this place, especially the owner. Went out of their way to help us/make us comfortable. Unfortunately that's the only thing I can mark highly on, the cottage was booked for 2 adults and an infant, our 8 month old son who is crawling and cannot be kept still.. on arrival I decided to wipe the floor with an antibacterial wipe to make sure it was extra clean for him and what we found was absoloutly disgusting, the wipes came back black and covered in human and animal hair. Between us we cleaned it 3 times and the wipes were still coming up brown 😔 not only that there was hairs all over the white bedding on our double bed (did not use or look at the singles as we had our sons travel cot). This made it incredibly hard for us to relax the whole time, especially as it was carpet upstairs so we couldn't put our son down on the floor because of how much dirtier that would have been than the laminate downstairs. Also we put down our own floor cover type thing for our son to play on, we put the table provided on top of it one evening as we watched Tele.. When we moved it back there was brown marks and hair stuck to the floor cover, a drink had been spilt down the edge of the white sofa and that was sticky and had hairs. The hot tub was lovely, we used it every night until guests moved into the cottage next to us which gave us no privacy, there should definitely be an umbrella /cover to have over. The place was advertised to have wifi but this didn't work. I can see the place being really nice in summer for families as there is space to run around play have picnics and the swimming pool. The nearest town is only a few mins drive but is very very limited, there was 2 takeaways one was an Indian we ate from once which was not nice at all, there are a few restaurants there but most of them were closed because it's such a small town and this time of the year. I can see this place being good for people who just want to completely self cater (cook in the cottage) I wouldn't rely on eating out or takeaway as we had planned to do as by the 4th day we decided to go home (1 night early) we couldn't use the hot tub and quite frankly we were cold (you couldn't control the heating yourself) uncomfortable because of the dirt and hungry . I do hate to have to write this as the staff were so nice but if i had known these things from reviews I would not have booked. I would like to say we didn't address these problems with the staff as we felt uncomfortable incase it made it awkward the rest of the stay as it's very informal and personal there, so I can't say they wouldn't have done their best to improve it for us if we had."

"Off the beaten track this was the perfect get away from it all break. The instructions received from Helpful holidays were as stated. The owners provided milk so we could have a drink before unpacking (really appreciated after a 7 hour drive). Everything we needed was provided from kitchen equipment, linens, TV, music & film CDs, local information packs, comfortable lounge and bed. Upstairs and downstairs toilets was a real plus! Mobile phone coverage was a bit iffy but this was not a real problem as there is internet access. We were made really welcome by Annabel James the owner who also provided us with further knowledge about the local area. A word of warning however - the local roads are not for the timid driver!!"

"One major issue was the lack of wifi coverage in the cottage. With no signal either, it made it impossible to use the internet to plan the next days trip out. Three adults or a couple and older child might have found the living areas a little cramped, for example, the dining table is small and there are only three chairs available. The cottage was spotless and the heating (although we couldn't work out the timings) made sure we were really cosy in the evenings. The lack of wifi would actually stop me booking this cottage in future, although I'd consider staying at Kilminorth Cottages again; we spotted other units with a hot tub!"

"We visited Kilminorth Cottages during "the beast from the east" which made circumstances a little... interesting, starting the holiday by getting our car stuck in snow down the track to the cottage. J was incredibly helpful and even gave us lifts to and from town to get food in. The cottage was as advertised and very homely although it would have been nice to have a few additions such as towels for hot tub/ oven gloves and dish cloth. Overall the staff could not have been more helpful especially given circumstances and we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely like to return in summer when it's a little warmer."
