"This is a lovely cottage but it has a FOR SALE sign outside, and it seems, maybe for that reason, not have been maintained as it should have been. I think the owners are hoping to sell it and avoid spending money on it. The previous reviews have mentioned the lack of heating. We had a three month old baby with us, which the owners knew about, and although we had glorious weather, the evenings and the nights were cold. There was absolutely NO heating upstairs at all, not in the bedrooms nor in the two bathrooms, so the bathrooms were therefore cold and damp, not great for bathing a baby. I took some heaters with me, which given the money we spent on the holiday I do not think I should have had to do. There was no heating in the downstairs bathroom, and although the radiators in the sitting room worked, the others were sporadic, however high we turned the thermostat. The owner had assured us, several times, that the heating would be working upstairs - it wasn't. We were also told that the cleaner would turn it on before we arrived - it wasn't on. We were told there would be a basket of logs on arrival - there wasn't. For the last 3 days no cold water came out of the bath taps, meaning we had to pour in cold water from the basins to the baths in order to have a bath. I texted the owner to report this but she declined to reply. The property urgently needs a visit from a plumber - I would not recommend being there in cold weather. Otherwise it's well kitted out, and spacious, and the big dining table is wonderful for family meals. We also enjoyed the garden, perfect for easter egg hunts. It's in a great situation, with lovely walks up to the common with fantastic views, and near to beaches and great places to eat.It just needs a good old overhaul of the plumbing."

"The property is more or less in the town centre very steep and hilly which in not a problemIf you have your own transport, you can see the bay from from outside decking area but The weekend we stayed there the weather didn't do it justice dull and wet most of the time and not much of a clear view , one bedroom the under floor heating system didn't seem to work at all when needed and bed clothes off another bed was needed so it could be occupied, the bed room I occupied didn't seem to keep it to a comfortable level either , if the dishwasher was in use at the same time as preparing vegetables in the sink near by we had the problem of dirty water From the the dishwasher coming back up through the waste pipes in to the sink, I must say the property looked spotless, until my daughter who has twin boys notice that the very nice high chair supplied by the owners and available to use didn't look so nice when she noticed that on the high chair seat was and old chocolate looking biscuite and believe it or not , it had blue mold on it apart from these few niggle things it could be a very nice place"

"* spacious, with a very good standard of décor. attractive interiors in keeping with expectations of the premises.* simple comfort & equipment issues which could so very easily be remedied; no coffee pot and/or percolator, only small hand towels provided in 2 of the 4 bedrooms! No bath mats provided.* It would also be accommodating if a small basket of logs for the fire were provided for the first evening, avoiding unwanted shopping after a tiring journey.* central heating only operated on the ground floor. Occupation of the bedrooms will be very chilly in future months, this needs attending to.* I and my party couldn't help thinking that the details mentioned above might be related to the fact that there was a 'for sale' sign on the property and that it was the end of the season. However, if the cottage is still being let, it should still and always keep a high standard.* ending on the positive; as mentioned above, all of these things can easily be addressed and the cottage itself, facilities, space, garden, location and peace, were a treasure."

"The house is spacious and has a nice view of the bay from the terrace. Generally the house is lovely for a family holiday but was badly let down by poor cleanliness. Examples include the small bedroom mattress that been previously soiled and smelled awful, the tiled floors had been mopped but when walked on upon arrival our socks bottoms were filthy. Some plates had mould growing on them. We spent a lot of effort in addressing some of the failings. A thorough check and clean/replacement by the management would make the house A1 again.Swanage town and the Purbeck area are charming and generally unspoilt. The easy access to Poole and Bournemouth is also a bonus. Corfe Castle village and castle are tourist hotspots, but still provide a nice day out. The steam railway was an excellent to relive bygone days and appreciate the Purbeck scenery as well as easy access to Corfe Castle. The steep hill from town to the property was a bit of a challenge, certainly after a long day out or if one made several journeys to and from town."

"Lovely house which, with a few inexpensive tweaks could be exceptional. On arrival (Friday) the loo in en suite would not flush and a plumber could not attend until late on Monday afternoon. Ok there were two other loos but we had paid for the use of three, one of which was out of use for almost half of our stay. The plumber made a temporary repair as he didn't have the necessary spare part and also very kindly sorted the shower trap which had not been emptied in a long while. Point about loo is shouldn't the cleaner have noticed?! The light in the upstairs loo didn't work and the top bunk bed apparently was extremely uncomfortable. Most of the above points have been made in previous reviews but I suppose the fact that the house is for sale says it all and explains the lack of tlc. Raine, the caretaker was very pleasant but I get the impression the owners have lost interest in this beautiful house."
