"This is a lovely cottage but it has a FOR SALE sign outside, and it seems, maybe for that reason, not have been maintained as it should have been. I think the owners are hoping to sell it and avoid spending money on it. The previous reviews have mentioned the lack of heating. We had a three month old baby with us, which the owners knew about, and although we had glorious weather, the evenings and the nights were cold. There was absolutely NO heating upstairs at all, not in the bedrooms nor in the two bathrooms, so the bathrooms were therefore cold and damp, not great for bathing a baby. I took some heaters with me, which given the money we spent on the holiday I do not think I should have had to do. There was no heating in the downstairs bathroom, and although the radiators in the sitting room worked, the others were sporadic, however high we turned the thermostat. The owner had assured us, several times, that the heating would be working upstairs - it wasn't. We were also told that the cleaner would turn it on before we arrived - it wasn't on. We were told there would be a basket of logs on arrival - there wasn't. For the last 3 days no cold water came out of the bath taps, meaning we had to pour in cold water from the basins to the baths in order to have a bath. I texted the owner to report this but she declined to reply. The property urgently needs a visit from a plumber - I would not recommend being there in cold weather. Otherwise it's well kitted out, and spacious, and the big dining table is wonderful for family meals. We also enjoyed the garden, perfect for easter egg hunts. It's in a great situation, with lovely walks up to the common with fantastic views, and near to beaches and great places to eat.It just needs a good old overhaul of the plumbing."

"* spacious, with a very good standard of décor. attractive interiors in keeping with expectations of the premises.* simple comfort & equipment issues which could so very easily be remedied; no coffee pot and/or percolator, only small hand towels provided in 2 of the 4 bedrooms! No bath mats provided.* It would also be accommodating if a small basket of logs for the fire were provided for the first evening, avoiding unwanted shopping after a tiring journey.* central heating only operated on the ground floor. Occupation of the bedrooms will be very chilly in future months, this needs attending to.* I and my party couldn't help thinking that the details mentioned above might be related to the fact that there was a 'for sale' sign on the property and that it was the end of the season. However, if the cottage is still being let, it should still and always keep a high standard.* ending on the positive; as mentioned above, all of these things can easily be addressed and the cottage itself, facilities, space, garden, location and peace, were a treasure."

"This is our second stay at The Haven and the first time we have revisited a cottage in the 10 years we have been doing these type of holidays. The home is comfortable, well equipped and warm (apart from the conservatory, however it was November). When we last stayed in Sept 16, the conservatory was very warm and we spent most of our evenings in there. The village has a butchers, fruit and veg shop both have high quality local food and a bakery. There is a well stocked Co-op, coffee shop and pubs that welcome dogs and lovely walks around the village. There is a corner shop about a 5 min walk away.West Bay is stunning and only about 15 mins drive and the beach welcomes dogs, some all year and some during the March/Sept season. The TV channels are limited, however it means you spend more time doing things you may not usually do, like reading and talking!"

"We both (plus the dog) enjoyed our stay at this cottage with it's 2 ensuites. The accommodation was quite spacious and clean. The twin bedded room and the living areas are all light and airy while the double bedroom is darker with less window area and overgrown hedging not far away. The parking is safely off road in a courtyard. A public footpath runs directly behind the cottage giving immediate access to open countryside and a variety of easy off-lead walking for our dog. slightly further afield is Craneborne Chase and the New Forest. The cottage is sited at the edge of Verwood with a choice of eating places and a large supermarket within minutes drive."

"We were welcomed most warmly by the owners. After a short introduction we were taken around the very well equipped cottage and shown were everything was situated. And if we required any further information about the surrounding area we only had to ask. With regards to the the property, it was situated down a very quiet lane and had an excellent view overlooking some very beautiful countryside. The inside was very clean and well provided for regarding cleaning products. Towels and bedding was changed on Friday as stated in the brochure. Very well laid out, everything you would need supplied. very clean. July 2009. "
