"We regularly visited this area when our children were young and wanting to return again, found this delightfully restored chapel just south of the a303. This main road can help you get about quickly, but is not close enough to spoil the peace and quiet. We were made very welcome by John and Jennie Wood to this spacious cottage, which is well equipped and very comfortable. Stourhead is a wonderful garden just north of the main road and for the 'lads' there is The Fleet air arm Museum just half an hour away. Check out the Carrier deck. For Dad, a visit to the extensive Haynes Motor Museum just up the road. Heading to Weymouth with children? On the right of that road is Maiden Castle, an amazing, terraced site of the fort there that it took the Romans to conquer. Our young sons never forgot fighting there, one a Brit, the other a Roman. Things like this bring history to life in young minds. There are so many places to visit in Wiltshire and Dorset, this lovely cottage is a perfect location. Helen and Stephen Wright"

"We loved this cottage and even though the weather was wet outside (Oct 2012), we still put on our boots and walked to see the horses, cows and tractors. The cottage has some damp patches on the walls but is so warm that our initial fears of there being a problem were quickly eased. The owner (who lives opposite) is friendly and helpful and we found many things to do locally - the best thing we visited was the Heavy Horse Farm - which surprised us as we are not horsey people! It was fun and very friendly and lots for the children (age 2,6 and 8) to do. Also the Moore Valley Park is a must - brilliant walks and activities to do on the walks. The cottage is so quiet (long drive down very unmade track) and the only noise we could hear at night was an owl or two hooting!"

"Awesome central location for discovering Dorset within driveable distance of Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth, Dorchester, Stonehenge, Monkey world and the Tank Museum. Quiet relaxing location. Hosts are very accommodating and are very honest hard working people not like most people who own cottages that are snobs, although they live next door they are very quiet and give guests their privacy. They are true animal lovers. its like a mini farm but with a gravel drive, none of the mud !! The cottage is very clean and all the mod cons. a sort of welcome pack is left for guests which includes coffee, tea , sugar, milk, biscuits and apricot/vanilla homemade jam which is gorgeous which I think goes to show the thought put into their guests stay."

"Excellent all round base for quiet week-end. On arrival, John & Jenny made us feel most welcome. The Chapel is a lovely restoration and well appointed. In fact more than we needed for a brilliant Summer weekend. We picked this location as it was a somewhat cheaper option to allow us to visit National Trust at Stourhead. Whilst Mere was rather basic, we missed out Gillingham and found Shaftesbury, which proved an excellent choice to stroll around. Saturday morning was really buzzing; the Mitre proving to be a good choice for food and drink. Sitting in The Chapel garden, we enjoyed the sun; sitting indoors, we could certainly imagine a cosy Winter's evening. In summary, a lovely country break. Thanks."
