"The large upside of Chapel Cottage, beside it being clean and comfortable, is that it is very close to the Coast Path so gives easy access for walkers. Once out and about, there are stunning views of the Dorset coast. The cottage sits close to the main road through Southwell, so some traffic noise can be expected at "rush hour" - however, it’s still much quieter than our home in the suburbs! As a former chapel with very high windows, skylights in the roof and stained glass windows to the rear, there are no views of anything from the Cottage but given its location on the main road this works in its favour. Parking is on the main road, and we did have to park at a small distance once. It is a little quirky - the bedroom is open plan, and in the eaves, so we did bump our heads a few times on the roof timbers. All in all, we had a wonderful break. Try taking the bus to Weymouth and walking back along the Rodwell Trail, a disused railway once used to carry Portland Stone (there are some steep parts once you reach Portland!). This walk takes you around part of Weymouth Harbour and alongside Chesil Beach. Stop for lunch at the Crab House Cafe before crossing from Weymouth, the Cafe is a must for fish lovers. Within walking distance from the Cottage is The Venue Hotel, where you can book in for treatments at The Ocean Spa and use the pool, sauna and steam rooms. The Cliff Restaurant at the hotel is also to be recommended. Sept 2011. "

"We had a great time staying at Churn House in Dorset. The village is quiet (no shop in walking distance) but some lovely areas to walk the dog around. All the lovely parts of Dorset are within 30mins drive. The accommodation is great but could do with better sound proofing, a fence/barrier between the two properties to keep dogs apart and a bigger fridge/freezer. There is a massive utility room that could easily house this. If you are eating out mainly it won’t be an issue but if you have a party of 8 and want to stock up on food it really isn’t big enough. Could just do with a few more plates and bits to save continually washing up and a few bits on maintenance needed. When we stayed one shower door was iffy, plug drained very slow and pool possibly needs slight attention. It is a great place to stay but keep in mind that if you want a completely peaceful holiday then the other building holds a lot of guests and if they are noisy it can disturb you. We had 3 very bark happy dogs staying opposite for instance.I would still highly recommend this accommodation though and the owners are very helpful and friendly."

"We loved woodyhyde courtyard, it had everything we could of wished for, the children loved the swimming pool, and the outside play kitchen, and they also loved the steam train that ran close by, so we had to catch the train from a nearby village to swanage for a day trip, I booked woodyhyde knowing that if there was a chance of rain, there was always something for everyone to do inside, but we were lucky and had some lovely sunsets around the barbecue. Everything was spotless in a very spacious and well equipped kitchen, and we were lucky enough to greeted by the owners and shown around, and also issued with a lovely welcome pack, which was a lovely touch. We would certainly recomend this accommodation to all our friends and family a great big thank you...."

"We have enjoyed a most relaxing week - just what we needed - in this beautiful house. The girls have enjoyed games of hide & seek and we have been really lucky with the weather so have made the most of it: walk between Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, a 4 mile circuit from Ringstead, stretches of Chesil Beach and woods behind Hardy's birthplace. Monkey World is fantastic (even in the rain) and we loved the charm of Weymouth, complete with donkey rides on the beach. As well as the Hive, can highly recommend the recently opened NT cafe which is linked to Hardy's birthplace - particularly good for children. The Curve in Weymouth is also good."

"This is a beautiful cottage and the perfect setting for seeing the New Year in. The kitchen/dining area is large and really well equipped and snuggling in front of the wood burner in front of the amazing TV screen was one of my favourite things. The master bedroom is incredible and the other three are a good size. It's a pity the beds in the twin room can't be pushed together for greater flexibility and the bed in the 3rd bedroom needs replacing as it almost creaks as you breathe! It was a great location for getting to Weymouth, Lulworth Cove and Monkey World - would go back in a heartbeat."
