"We had a really lovely stay in America cottage with our two young children. It was a very nice cottage with plenty of space and good facilities. There was an electric fire (which has switches under the top rim, to turn on the heat, in case this helps anyone in the future), good sized bathtub with shower over, two loos, another en suite shower, microwave, highchair, cooker, fridge freezer, a VERY good dishwasher, cutlery, crockery, baking trays etc. (Take tinfoil if you're planning to cook though.) The cottage has a private patio area, which has a table, chairs and a charcoal BBQ. The play area, just outside the patio area, is fenced in and secure for young children and has 3 slides, climbing frame with Wendy house style bits, swings etc. My kids really enjoyed the decent play area, so that was a big hit with us.I would have liked to have had two huge squishy textile sofas, in the living room, for comfort. Also, a choice of teabags (e.g. some black teas, some fruit teas) in sealed envelopes would have made it perfect. They could do with having bigger towels (bath sheets preferably) and if I'm being ultra picky: a slightly bigger bed in the main bedroom would have been fantastic. Having said that, the staff were absolutely lovely and waived the towel hire fee, so I'm not complaining. The only other things I can think of, that might be notable for future guests, are: that neither of us had mobile phone reception (although we did have WiFi, which was a lifesaver!) and there is no parking space directly outside the door, so you will need to carry everything up from the car park.As my husband will attest, I am very difficult to please, but I loved America cottage and would heartily recommend it to anyone. It was cheaper than a hotel and an absolute gem! It was very spacious and comfortable and my children had an absolute blast running around in there. There is also a large Tesco nearby for anything you discover you need once you arrive, so all in all, a great place for a break. Just try to arrive in daylight, as trying to find it in the dark is a bit of a mission!"

"Excellent cottage for families-very large combined dining & living room and kitchen with really useful safe balcony looking out over large grassed back garden-the garden is perfect for children to play on whilst the adults sit watching them from the balcony.Excellent private hot tub (perfect for relaxing in after a hard days sightseeing) and bonus of shared fairly warm heated swimming pool and games room with pool table and dart board.Brilliant reasonably quiet location although traffic noise can be heard from nearby A30-this would not put us off from staying here again. We originally booked the more expensive Sundance cottage due to the "Tikki bar" area out back but really pleased we changed to Honey Pippin due to the large rear garden ideal for our 2 year old granddaughter to wear herself out in.Many thanks to Sheila and her staff for a wonderful stay!"

"This is a lovely farm cottage with beautiful views over the farm lands. It is spacious, warm and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. The pool is warm and, for the most part, we had it to ourselves which was great. The changing rooms are cold though so bring clothes that are easy to throw on e.g. tracksuit! There is plenty of space to dry towels with a clothes airer and a heated towel rail in the main bathroom. There is also a heated floor in the bathroom which is nice on a cold day (Devon was very cold during our stay). Our two young children loved their stay here. The only drawback for us was the mile or so long narrow road leading up to the cottage as it was pretty scary if anything came the other way. There are passing bays though and you do get used to it! This cottage is great value for money."

"The cottage is in an idyllic setting but you do need your own transport as it is several miles to the nearest village. At night there is no traffic noise, and sitting in the fabulous hot tub all you hear is the wind in the trees and the wildlife. The bed was exceedingly comfortable and that combined with the peace and quiet resulted in fantastic quality sleep. In the living room are 2 small armchairs. These are not conducive to cuddling up with your partner and we felt that a small settee would have been better, although I am sure others would like the enforced separation! The hosts are always on hand if there are any issues and nothing is too much trouble. The cream tea on arrival was an added bonus.A perfect getaway if you want time together in a peaceful location."

"The cottage was very cosy but was adequate for our requirements. It was clean and had plenty of equipment/utensils and cleaning materials, so cooking was made easier. There was an expectation from the owner that we cleaned the cottage before we left which I thought was odd. I vacuumed, cleaned the showers and kitchen only for it to be done again when we left.I primarily booked this cottage because the blurb said it had a nature reserve you could walk to which took you down to a river. It sounded idyllic and perfect for walking my dog. However, the reality was different. The owner has a flock of sheep in the reserve so there is sheep mess everywhere. The reserve is very overgrown so walking around it was not particularly enjoyable."
