"It's been a few weeks since we spent our Easter holiday at Deepwell Barn, and I've been meaning to find the time to write a few words about our experience. The cottage was a great base to explore the area. We live in Hull, so Devon and Cornwall are quite a long drive away. We easily visited places of interest local to the cottage and farther afield. For all intents and purposes the cottage is a new build within an existing barn structure, which is great. Everything being like a new home, but with the charm of an old building. That said the barn has been converted to a very high standard, and being from a construction background, I spent a lot of time admiring the quality of the joinery. The cottage had everything we could possibly need, and the welcome pack left by the owners was a very nice touch.Whilst the cottage is in a very rural landscape, within ten minutes you're in the centre of Bideford with all the shops and facilities you could possibly need. All in all we had a great time, and we would highly recommend a holiday there."

"Oak cottage is an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of inner city life. The cottage is tastefully decorated offering a perfect home from home feel with an excellent kitchen and exceptionally comfortable beds. The enclosed garden is perfect for dogs and has the added bonus of an array of birdlife. Most nights we fell asleep to the hooting of owls and awoke to woodpeckers. Although very remote it did not 'feel' isolated, in fact, the property was so comfortable and comforting 'like your favourite blanket'. The cleanliness and warm welcome from Maria was lovely - the scones were a delicious welcome gift washed down with a perfect cuppa. The ponds on the property and the field offered a quick walk and run for the dog before lying down in front of the wood burner for the night. If you want a perfect getaway I would highly recommend a visit. We will definitely return."

"This was a lovely property, perfect for an out of season escape. Right on the Tarka trail you had unlimited walking and cycling right on your doorstep. It is large and detached and perfect for two people who want peace and quiet, with a bit of home comfort. I appreciated the hairdryer as I forgot my own. It’s a short walk to Bideford along the trail and the beautiful beach at Westward Ho! just 15 minutes drive. My only niggle was that the kitchen equipment was sparse and poor quality as is often the case with rental properties. If you want a fire the night you arrive bring your own kindling as they only provided three chunky logs and a couple of fire lighters which wasn’t enough to get the fire going. Also if you have fire gauntlets I’d bring them as I really missed mine! All in all a super break, with amazing weather in October."

"What a beautiful base for a family holiday. The house boasts such wonderful facilities that on some days we didn't want to venture out and instead enjoyed swimming, BBQ's and of course the games room. Modbury is a lovely village offering gorgeous cake shops, a fabulous butchers and an array of other delightful shops. The traditional play park on back street was an enjoyable find and all the locals are very friendly. Our days out to Bigbury and Salcombe were enjoyed by all. The glorious sandy beaches, the delicious ice-creams and the fish and chips all being highlights. Many thanks from eight very content but tired holidaymakers."

"This is a fabulous cottage in a very rural farm location, which is why I have marked it down for local amenities. The Tarka Trail runs very close by and is even suitable for children's buggies. The barn had everything you need for a great stay and the garden space is perfect for young children, including the chickens roaming through. The owner is very friendly, helpful and lives close by, should you need help with anything. I would certainly make a return visit."
