"We were very disappointed with this house. We noticed that this property is up for sale by Auction. We felt it had been neglected in recent times. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery and cutlery. However the oven door did not close properly and had to be wedged shut to work. The downstairs shower room and toilet were unusable due to the smell emanating from the shower drain which seemed blocked. The downstairs bathroom and toilet also appear to have some plumbing problems as the toilet and bath gurgle when the water drains away. The bedrooms were adequate and the beds and bedding both warm and comfortable. The en suite shower room would have benefited from a mirror in order to use the shaving socket. The en suite bathroom had mould on the shower curtain. The house was cold as the radiators were not overly hot and the aga which controlled the central heating was not working. (the oil gauge was showing empty) This was not ideal as we had three small children and a baby in our party. The utility room had at least 2/3 weeks of dirty bedlinen and towels on the floor. There was also no visitor book for comments, I wonder why?"

"Personally I feel the photos presented on the website looked “ok” hence the reason we booked however upon our arrival we were positively delighted with this very fabulous cute, cosy and immaculate property Photos on the website certainly don’t do it justice! My husband,my three teenage boys and my elderly mum and our dog just loved every aspect of this holiday home Incredibly well laid out with a fabulous cosy log fire in the lounge area- just perfect for relaxing with a glass or two after a long walk Certainly much larger than we first envisaged The kitchen was very well designed and impressive space with everything you need to hand and yet still retaining that snug cottage feel and look Plenty of choice of bedrooms and every space designed and presented with style. Both bathrooms were of an equally high standard and design Certainly a property that is very much loved and highly maintained by its owners - credit to them"

"Tick Tock cottage was perfect for our two week stay with our 6 and 4 year old children. The cottage is beautifully furnished inside with all new facilities. There was everything you would need for younger children and babies, including a cot and high chair. A very peaceful and idyllic location. Relaxing evenings spent on the balcony looking out onto fields with grazing sheep and a friendly horse. The owners were extremely friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and easy. The location is excellent, with easy access to Weardale, Barnard castle, Durham, the railway museum at Shildon. So much to do and see in this delightful part of England. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to all our friends. "

"Cottage was huge so we had more than enough room for us all and the beds, chairs, etc were really comfy. The facilities available were nice but not perfect but those things didn't affect our stay. The only major issue was the main road next to the cottage is very busy. Not a problem at night so slept perfectly in the really comfy bed but definitely wouldn't attempt to go for walks down it with the dogs or kids. It is worth also noting that there is no WiFi or phone signal here which can be a big bonus if you want to escape it all. If you still need access to the net there are a few really nice pubs in a short drive. The gateway had an amazing landlord and the pub was very kid and dog friendly."

"Tick Tock Cottage is of a very high specification, kept to a very high standard of cleanliness plus full use of the owners garden whose property is next to the cottage. The cottage has all the facilities one would wish for including a cot for the very young and a balcony to sit out on. This lovely area of County Durham has plenty to do, see and explore; from hillwalking up in Weardale to a visit to Durham City itself. The owners made me very welcome. I had a lovely week exploring the area and the cottage is well worth a visit. Would like to visit again in the future as I could not fit everything I wanted to do into my weeks stay."
