"We secured Bridge House as a last minute deal. The only other review on this site seemed to rate the property 1/10 despite the person not staying at the property (I understand the frustration but I didn’t think this was particularly fair to rate the property so low if they had no experience of it).Upon arrival we were surprised to find this cottage sits at the front of a small site housing approximately 12 log cabins. The site is appealing as one enters it. It is approximately 200m away from a reasonable children’s play area, basketball court and football pitches. On site there are spa facilities which we hadn’t prices for, but based on the lack of availability my wife was unable to experience this service. The site is quiet, and we found Ian, the on-site warden, friendly and understanding of a few niggles. The property itself was clean, and well supplied, with some essentials such as tea bags, milk and washing up liquid provided. The hot tub was a very welcome addition, and there is a fair sized garden to enjoy a summer’s evening. We opted for a stair gate, which wasn’t present upon arrival. A stair gate is needed for young children as the only bathrooms are on the split level of ground level, so young children who sleep walk may fall easily (as our youngest highlighted. I did offer to go and buy one and it was put in place by Ian, with a refund given. The master bedroom mattress is arguably the hardest and most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. It really needs to be changed!Overall we enjoyed our experience and would return to the cottage again."

"On The Plus Side: The cottage is beautiful and sits in an open landscape surrounded by fields. The double bifold doors are a real wow factor! On the Down Side: The reason we went with this cottage and paid the extra money over and above similar cottages was the onsite facilities. Unfortunately the Hot Tub hadn't been cleaned and despite informing the owner that it did not heat up and needing cleaning the issue was not resolved during our stay. We figured a BBQ on the last night would be a great way to finish off our last evening only to find the BBQ was in an even worse state. It had clearly not been checked on change overs and was covered in grease that had started to grow mould. it had clearly been in this state for some time. This could have been a 10/10 if the owner had resolved the issue with the hot tub and the BBQ but unfortunately we received no response from him. Very poor customer service!"

"We stayed at the lodge for a 60th birthday weekend. Upon arrival the lodge was freezing and there was no logs to start a fire and it did state on our email there should be enough logs for our whole stay. The central heating also didn't work. We called the help number and someone came to try to work the heating. Still didnt work ans promised he would be back in the morning with logs as we have brought some by this point. No one turned up. We called again and again. Finally the manager turned up at 5pm with logs but still couldn't get the heating on. Thr heating finally. Came on during the night and turned off in the morning. There was also not adequate kitchen items. Lady bird and fly infestation in the master bedroom. Not very clean as loads of large cobwebs everywhere. Also Netflix didn't work as it said too many people was already using it."

"This flat has so much room, lovely big bedroom , good size living room and practical kitchen and bathroom. Had everything we required. The garden outlook is really lovely, I liked watching the birds and squirrels, and the pheasant made my day. On the other side of the wall were the cows in their field, lovely outlook to, and they weren't noisy. The church at the end of the garden needs exploring, lovely place. The only reason I wouldn't go back is because we like to explore different areas, and this place let us do that. I'd thoroughly recommend it, the owner even left a cake for us, and gave us some potatoes. We had a relaxing stay. As it says on the description, internet a bit intermittent, but what else do you expect out in the countryside. A sat nav or map, phone app, does prove useful in getting about, or a detailed paper map."

"We stayed visiting family in the East Midlands, from Australia, plus points-position it's around three miles from Derby city centre but you do need a car Tess and Bill are friendly, helpful and very approachable, Tess bales on a weekly basis so expect a cake to welcome you. The accomodation is described appropriately both here and on Sykes Cottages Webpage. Good size, excellent parking. Good position, beautiful views and nice walks if the weathers good. The only negative and the reason for four not five stars is the cottage needs comfy sofas as we stayed over three weeks and the current ones are not comfy to sit on watching TV, also the whole place is needing redecorating it's pretty shabby chic. Having said that it's warm and the beds are comfy, we will definitely stay again next time we're in the area"
