"I wouldn't stay in the Borrowdale cabin again or recommend it. We have stayed in some lovely self-catering accommodation, but this was our first stay in a cottage through Cottages 4 U. However, this place needs some serious up date in décor. The carpets and furniture were very old and had not been cleaned in a long time. My young son dropped a Lego figure down between the cushions in the couch and when I retrieved this, I found a mouldy biscuit, dirt and dust. The sheets were old and the poppers on the duvet cover in the double room didn't close. The latch at the top of the window in the double room was broken, the heater in the bathroom didn't work (despite us finding the switch outside the bathroom) and there was a patch of mould on the ceiling in the twin room, which made the room smell of damp. There was no iron or board in the accommodation, which I appreciate was small, but there could have been room for a table ironing board and iron in one of the cupboards. Our main complaint was the metered electricity. I have stayed in over 20 different self-catering places all over the country and none of these were metered. The fact that this accommodation was metered, was mentioned in VERY SMALL print on the second page of our booking confirmation. Once inside the property there was no signage to suggest where the meter was, so we had to hunt for this. Details for our stay and contacts etc were in a very out of date book, hidden away under the television, when I feel that due to their importance they should have been sitting on the kitchen table or work surface. We may have received a reduced rate for this property with my Tesco vouchers, however there is still no excuse for the condition of this property, and it certainly would put me off booking with Cottages 4 you again. Regards Casey Rust "

"The cottage was beautiful inside and out, everything we needed in the cottage to make our stay like being at home, clean, comfortable and the kitchen was great with all appliances and utensils that would be needed.I wouldn't stay here again purely down to the neighbours, we have 2 boys 9 and 5 who played on their bikes when we returned home each evening as it was so quiet it was perfect for them to enjoy, one set of neighbours complained about them and the other side didn't speak once, didn't make us welcome one bit, felt uneasy and kept telling the boys to be quiet, not children orientated at all! (Neighbours wise)"

"Hayloft is a great base for exploring The Lake District. The owners were on hand if we had any queries and the cottage was situated in beautiful countryside. It was lovely watching the birds feeding in the garden and not hearing buses going pass at all hours. So peaceful. The ensuite bathrooms were fabulous and walk in showers great. The only observation here is that a grab rail and shower mat would have been useful but no complaints about the standard of the bathrooms. We wouldn't hesitate to book this lovely cottage again and this is also backed up by other comments in the visitors book."

"Over all I enjoyed my stay at The Stables. Friendly community of neighbours and conveniently located for my visit to the Lakes. Unfortunately we were swarmed by flies which put a dampener on the stay - literally hundreds, day and night. This was not anybody's fault per se, I think it was a combo of the heat and nearby cows. The layout of the kitchen is rather eccentric with the sink in another room to the rest but as a holiday place workable. Always lovely to have an Aga to cook with. A comfortable bedroom and lovely upstairs lounge/dinning room with pretty views."
