What our customers are saying about our Self Catering Holidays In Blisland.
- Ms Buckle, September 2018 - verified booking
"It was mainly ideal for our circumstances with enough space and all on one level. A seat in the shower for our disabled aged relative would have enabled use of that for them, standing using the bars was not an option and a stool in the hall could move about in the shower and was too low. That being said they did not advertise that this would be available and not knowing fully what space we had to play with meant the one used at home was left behind. The owners were helpful and asked us to contact them should anything be needed , other than that they kept their distance and were not in our pockets. Lots of information about local things to see and do. The Blisland Inn is a real bonus, being within easy walking distance for anybody without mobility problems and with plenty of parking around the village green. We were advised by bar staff to book for Sunday lunch if we wanted to eat in the restaurant part, which was a good tip for there are no many tables in that part. In the bar and outside you can order off the bar menu which is extensive, food from local producers and reasonably priced. All the people in the bar were friendly and helpful and we even went to do the pub quiz on a Weds night. The post office/ shop/café was not open every day and closed part of some days and sells newspapers and basic food needs. Nearest supermarket is Asda, a short drive away and is a large one. The church in Blisland is said to be John Betjemen's favourite. It is small inside with Norman features with a very impressive ornate altar and is open for anybody to wander around. Most disappointed by Pencarrow House, despite all its blurb. Booking through Sykes was easy and very detailed information was provided, unlike other similar booking sites."

"Higher Tumrose is a very cozy, but spacious bungalow. The large lounge has the best wood burning stove I’ve ever used - so easy to light. There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Everything worked although the appliances are a bit elderly (the microwave is small). The beds were very comfortable too. The downside; the main bathroom shower was little more than a dribble which meant queuing for the electric en-suite one. There are ten steps up to the front door and the paving is slippery when wet. Only a problem if you book the property, like us, with an elderly parent in mind. Bizarrely the sun lounge was a fly graveyard! This aside, Higher Tumrose was a great place to stay for exploring North Cornwall. We loved the pub too - great beer and really friendly."

"Now that they appear to have been taken over by Sykes Holiday Cottages we are less than delighted. Sykes Cottages have imposed a booking fee, which Helpful Holidays never did; they have removed the Family & Friends discount, which Helpful Holidays gave us; and they have increased the rental charge without any consultation with the owners of the holiday cottage. We have been going to the same holiday cottage for all these years - because it suits us and we like it. There is no advantage to us in having a much wider range of cottages to choose from. We have booked our holiday for next year - same weeks, same cottage - and it is costing us over £300 more than our holiday this year. We are not happy with Skyes Holiday Cottages."

"We travelled in a large van and only just managed to drive along many lanes and a less confident driver may have trouble navigating these. Having said that the position, on the edge of Bodmin Moor was very picturesque and we regularly met horses, ponies and lambs on our dog walks. The village of Blisland, has a lovely village green, with pub & shop! We were able to travel to Padstow, Rock, St Angus & surrounding areas, from the cottage, in less than 30/40 mins to the coast! Beautiful walks around the cottage, if you have a dog."

"They were there if we needed them and yet left us alone to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the cottage. The views and the tranquility of the cottage made a perfect holiday for us. The cottage was warm and very comfortable well equipped. For us it made for a perfect time away to leave as far as we could the trials and tribulations of our normal lives behind us and just enjoy each others company in a wonderful setting. Please thank Mr and Mrs Jensen very much for allowing us to have the opportunity to stay at Higher Tumrose."
