"Overall we had a lovely stay. The cottage is beautiful and in a wonderful location, great for walking. I think the cleanliness needs to be improved, it could do with a serious deep clean, the shower head was covered in limescale (easily recitified) pots, pans, plates and cutlery all needed washing before even using them due to grease and dirt. Baking trays in the oven covered in someone else’s food. I was also surprised that there was no stair gate for the top of the stairs, been child friendly you would have thought this was a must due to the stairs steepness. Having a 2 year old we had to barricade the stairs with boxes and bags so he didn’t get out of bed on a night and fall down them. In the welcome packs and cottage information packs I felt that it was very over the top on how clean you should leave it. Yes we know been self catered you would intend to leave it as you found it bar changing beds and cleaning bathrooms however been a dog friendly cottge also it states there must be no trace whatsoever that dogs were even here. I found myself cleaning like a maniac on the morning of departure in case someone came to find me for leaving a single dog hair!! ( my dogs do not shed) but we pay £20 extra per dog, I’m not sure what this is going towards if it isn’t going towards a more thorough clean after we’ve left? There were lots of rules and regulations to follow which isn’t a great way to start a holiday. And lastly I was hugely dissatisfied to find out later after booking with you that on another website I wouldn’t have had to pay for my dogs and I also would have paid a lot loss for my holiday. I will not be using your company again."

"Having driven 130 miles through storm "Callam" it was a really nice touch that the owner had left the heating and lights on, with background classical music- it was very welcoming. The lodge is well kitted out for any eventuality with 2 teles, games to play, DVD's to play and books to read. There's no Wifi, but you don't notice with everything else to do. It's very dog friendly with a small enclosed yard outside the door, and a large garden behind it if you can let your dog off. Dog owner beware however, there's plenty of rabbits in the large garden! We found the location brilliant. I've been to the Lakes several times and wanted to explore the Solway Firth, for which this lodge is really handy.Overall once the storm had cleared we had a wonderful, relaxing time in peace and quiet"

"Despite having booking on the morning of the day we were arriving, the hosts were extremely accommodating. We were thrilled to discover this great place. It has a cosy cottage feel with all mod cons. Very clean with every necessity supplied. Along with the basics of bread, butter and milk, there was also a bottle of wine, some local fudge some freshly laid eggs from the chickens wandering around under the kitchen window. Then Chris arrived with her gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake. The hosts Adrian and Chris were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Eager to ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We had a great time here and plan to return asap. We think that anyone who chooses to stay here will not be disappointed."

"The cottage was lovely and very clean and in a smashing location close to Bassenthwaite village, however access to the garden is reached by going onto the end cottages property and you have to walk underneath their car-port, the neighbor every time we used the garden for our dog spied on us round the corner, when we were stood in the garden she was constantly watching us, it didn’t matter too much as we only used it when the dog needed to go out, however even when we were leaving/arriving in our car she hid round the corner watching. We noticed a few other comments in the visitors book about the neighbour in the end cottage, if you don’t need to use the garden the cottage is perfect apart from very poor water pressure,"

"We stayed here for 1 week during Christmas 2018. On first walking into the cottage it really was a big "wow" from both of us as we entered the modern spacious kitchen and the lovely bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Being recently refurbished everything is brand new. But it's not just the furniture and décor that impress but also all the little touches here and there that really make you feel at home. The location is perfect for walking and cycling with just a short walk to the lake and you're straight out onto the local fells. Local eateries include the Chalet for coffees and snacks and the local pub the Farmers Arms for traditional bar meals. We would definitely return."
