"Having driven 130 miles through storm "Callam" it was a really nice touch that the owner had left the heating and lights on, with background classical music- it was very welcoming. The lodge is well kitted out for any eventuality with 2 teles, games to play, DVD's to play and books to read. There's no Wifi, but you don't notice with everything else to do. It's very dog friendly with a small enclosed yard outside the door, and a large garden behind it if you can let your dog off. Dog owner beware however, there's plenty of rabbits in the large garden! We found the location brilliant. I've been to the Lakes several times and wanted to explore the Solway Firth, for which this lodge is really handy.Overall once the storm had cleared we had a wonderful, relaxing time in peace and quiet"

"Despite having booking on the morning of the day we were arriving, the hosts were extremely accommodating. We were thrilled to discover this great place. It has a cosy cottage feel with all mod cons. Very clean with every necessity supplied. Along with the basics of bread, butter and milk, there was also a bottle of wine, some local fudge some freshly laid eggs from the chickens wandering around under the kitchen window. Then Chris arrived with her gorgeous homemade lemon drizzle cake. The hosts Adrian and Chris were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Eager to ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We had a great time here and plan to return asap. We think that anyone who chooses to stay here will not be disappointed."

"Had a lovely week at Midday Cottage. Met by Shirley who was very welcoming and showed us around the cottage. The cottage was absolutely spotless, homely and well equipped. (Not a criticism but perhaps another sofa would be a nice touch... the one there is very comfy!) We took our dog and didn’t realise the courtyard wasn’t enclosed but didn’t cause a problem as you literally walk 2 mins from the front door to a grassy area and the promenade walled walk. There are a selection of pubs & shops a 10 min walk away and a coop for any shopping needs. We travelled all over from Buttermere to Gretna Green. If you want a relaxed peaceful location in a home from home cottage then give this Cottage a go."

"Lovely, spotless, cottage with a very well equipped kitchen. The bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept really well. Shirley was very friendly and welcoming and the welcome present of wine and biscuits went done well and was much appreciated. We would definitely recommend Midday to anyone who is thinking of having a break in the area. The road from the cottage leads directly to the sea front and it is then only a couple of minutes walk to Silloth promenade, which takes you into the town with its lovely park, or walk a bit further and you reach West Beach with its sand dunes."

"This was our fourth visit to Haystacks, so I think that speaks for itself! Very convenient being near to town, parks, the lake and walks too numerous to name. Everything we need is there...... a firm comfortable king size bed, no stairs, dogs accepted, wifi, a bath and a garden. The last of these "must haves" is the only gripe we have, as it is awkward to get to even the patio area, past overgrown shrubs. Some careful and timely pruning would be a great help. And of course, we were lucky enough to have warm summer weather........in February!!!"
