"We had a fantastic week, the cottage was much more spacious than we anticipated. It was clean, comfy and cosy. We loved it.The kids loved their stay and enjoyed playing the games & jigsaws they found in the kitchen cupboard. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need. The living room is cosy, with the wood burner on, a drink and a book in hand - bliss. The selection of books and dvds were great. The bedrooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. We all slept very well. The location was perfect. Not too far from amenities in Wigton and a great base for exploring Solway coast and Lake District. The dog had a great holiday and settled really well. The garden at the front was nice for her to play in. The only thing I would recommend if you are there in the dark winter nights and have a dog - take a head torch!Lindsey was very helpful. Lots of information in the welcome pack about things to do locally. We are already planning our next visit."

"The house was great, 4 bedrooms, 2 doubles, a twin and a single. Nice big kitchen and dining room, the kitchen was well equipped and included 4 gas hobs with integrated oven and grill, fridge and freezer. Cosy living room with log burner (logs and coal provided and extra available to purchase). Large family bathroom with separate bath and shower. The owner is friendly and welcoming and lives next door, even left us milk and fresh eggs in the fridge. Dogs were very welcome. WiFi was available but not fast enough for streaming movies, but a selection of DVDs was provided. The house was very clean and comfortable overall. Located just on the edge of the Lake District, many places to walk and explore nearby. Not a issue for us but the nearest shop is around 4 miles away. The TV was a bit small, especially if 7 people were staying."

"This is a lovely spacious house with the feel of a comfy home. We were a party of 5 adults and there was plenty of room to spread around. The location is private but close enough to all the Lake District has to offer, with walks on the doorstep and fantastic views, we saw a wide variety of birds in the garden, including woodpeckers. It is clean and well equipped. To be helpful the cattle grid outside the property is noisy and walkers pass close by the house, these blended into the background for us and we didn't find they distracted from our holiday. The instructions for the cooker and how to deal with the rubbish were confusing and could do with updating. I think anyone booking this property will be glad they did, we had a fantastic time and may well return again in the future."

"Having driven 130 miles through storm "Callam" it was a really nice touch that the owner had left the heating and lights on, with background classical music- it was very welcoming. The lodge is well kitted out for any eventuality with 2 teles, games to play, DVD's to play and books to read. There's no Wifi, but you don't notice with everything else to do. It's very dog friendly with a small enclosed yard outside the door, and a large garden behind it if you can let your dog off. Dog owner beware however, there's plenty of rabbits in the large garden! We found the location brilliant. I've been to the Lakes several times and wanted to explore the Solway Firth, for which this lodge is really handy.Overall once the storm had cleared we had a wonderful, relaxing time in peace and quiet"

"What a wonderful cottage in a beautiful and tranquil setting. It has been lovingly restored with close attention to detail, maintaining the original character but with quality furnishings.Ann and Martin have thought of everything from a choice of pillows to a luxury kitchen. The cottage was warm and inviting, a lovely place to relax after a day's walking or sightseeing. The delicious welcome pack was the best that we have had in many years of self catering. Ann and Martin were the perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful when we had some health problems part way through our stay. We found that Tallentire was a great base from which to explore the Western Lakes with easy access to the quaint local towns and stunning fells."
