"The bungalow is situated on the edge of a housing estate in Bathampton. It was really clean, the shower was powerfull & there was plenty of hot water. From the cottage it is approximately a 2.5 mile walk along the canal into Bath in one direction & approximately 11 miles into Bradford on Avon in the other direction. Unfortunately there are no shops in Bathampton, the nearest being about 2 miles away so the welcome pack provided by the owners was really useful. There is also a pub a short walk from the bungalow. Whilst we were staying the garden was swarming with bees. There were at least 3 individual nests with hundreds of bees surrounding each nest which made sitting out in the garden impossible. Normally I can enjoy bees visiting my garden (& I have planted plants which attract them) but the amount in this garden was not in the least enjoyable. Looking at the review book in the cottage the bees were also a problem to people staying during September / October last year. The owner managed to eventually get pest control out the night before we left. They attended the premises at 6:20 pm but by that time most bees had retired into their nests. Pest control stated they were Ivy bees. Unfortunately as I have a severed allergy to stings we could not risk opening windows or sitting in the garden which sadly spoilt our enjoyment of the cottage."

"It's a lovely house, great setting, beautiful garden, clean and well decorated. Local people were very pleasant and friendly. Good family-friendly holiday (except for stairgate issue mentioned below). Kitchen great for cooking and the basket of food was a really kind addition. I slept in the downstairs bedroom and it was such a comfortable bed.We were pretty surprised when we arrived and discovered the no alcohol policy. We were a small group with infants and I'm pregnant so it wasn't a big deal, but if you're going to tell adults they can't drink alcohol then it should be made pretty clear in advance. There was something about "please no drinking on the farm" in the online particulars but we had no idea that meant no alcohol in the house all weekend. The main problem was the lack of stairgate at the bottom of the stairs. I specifically inquired about this before booking and made sure there would be stairgates. In the days before we arrived we spoke to the owner who confirmed the stairgates would be in place. But when we arrived the bottom one wasn't there, and we found it broken in the cupboard. I was pretty disappointed as this was very important to me with two toddlers."

"Spent a wonderful second Christmas week here and cannot fault the cottage, the owners and the location. Such a warm feel from this place. Plenty of walks with our dog in the surrounding countryside and it is such a quiet, peaceful place you really don't want to leave! The owners are so helpful and friendly and they had homemade mince pies and Christmas decorations in the cottage on arrival. The local pub is a very short drive away with local beers and food. This is our favourite 'get away from it' place and will hopefully return again very soon. With the huge amount of wildlife, birds and squirrels out by the patio area, the morning chorus is the highlight of our visit.......getting up early has never felt so good! Thank you for another lovely break."

"Lovely old property clean and very spacious - a really lovely house and perfect distance from Bath. BE AWARE OF THE ADDITIONAL ELECTRICITY BILL AT THE END OF YOUR STAY! The electricity bill at the end of the holiday is something to be very aware of though particularly in the colder months as the property is only equipped with old storage heaters and very old appliances that seem to eat up the pennies - over 65 for electricity in one week was very steep given the price of the property itself and that we really didn't have the heat on that much. If the electricity bills are so high the owner really should look at switching to more energy efficient options and insulating doors and windows as there are gaps to see the sunlight through."

"The cottage is in a lovely location, is spacious and generally the facilities were very good. However we encountered problems with the plumbing, firstly a loose lever on the shower which made turning on the shower difficult and secondly the hot tap became detached, cleared not fitted correctly, and hot water poured everywhere. Fortunately I use a screwdriver from my car to isolate the tap and turn off the water. The flooding cased the electrics to trip and later in the day we realised the fridge was off. We found contacting the housekeeper both when arranging the key collection and during this problem difficult and felt there wasn't enough urgency considering the flooding which had more seriously affected the electrics."
