"Lovely place to stay, cottage very comfortable, everything you need provided and washer and dryer are a godsend. This is a large cottage, the bedroom is a great size and the bed is comfortable, no trouble sleeping; the living room is very comfortable and tv had enough stations to keep us happy at night; the kitchen is marvellous size (huge). There is a large bathroom upstairs with claw foot tub and separate shower, sink and wc, there is also a shower room next to the laundry room downstairs which is very handy. The garden is lovely and we kept the birds well fed with birdseed and bread, we even had a couple of squirrels coming each day. Nice to sit outside during the day with a citronella candle to stop the midges and watch the birds and the sound of the little river flowing over the stones and rocks it is so relaxing. On the negative side there isn't a phone in Forget Me Not, and, as there is no mobile phone signal unless you walk along to the stables, this could prove to be serious in an emergency situation. The kettle should have been replaced as it was past its best, also if you're prone to being bitten by midges, this location could be problematic, there are thousands of the little buggers. We were unable to open the door or windows because of them. Again, on the positive side the location is magical, and so quiet so if you want a place to relax and unwind this cottage is really perfect. There are so many lovely walks on Craigengillan Estate so, if you're a hiker or just like to take a stroll, you will really enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don't miss a visit up to Loch Doon, the coffee at the little roundhouse is great and if you're lucky and go right now you can watch the male and female Ospreys and their three chicks; just amazing to see."

"This is a very attractive, comfortable, clean cottage set in lovely Ayrshire countryside attached to the friendly helpful owners home. The views are gorgeous and on a good day you can see Arran and lots of wildlife from the cottage windows. The website pictures do not do the place justice. Andrew the owner is very friendly and on hand for any advice or problems but leaves you to enjoy the peace and beauty of this often overlooked area otherwise. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge which was a much appreciated by us after a long journey. There was even a pack of treats for our dog....some cheesy treats which he loved despite usually not being a fan of such things! We really enjoyed the local beaches and little towns, eg Troon and had a fantastic day trip over to Arran. We had come for my father's funeral in Glasgow (this is also close by) but ended up having a really lovely holiday week. It has the peace of the countryside but there are lots of supermarkets nearby for provisions and there is a popular Indian restaurant within walking distance. And we didn't find the roads bad at all unlike a previous review. You just have to drive with care nearby, as with all country roads. The cottage itself is in a quiet lane with a beautiful ruin nearby. So overall, this is a great place to have a holiday, near the beautiful Ayrshire coast but also the attractions of Glasgow."

"Location was quiet but a little isolated for our taste. The local pub which we understand was the Stair Inn, in Stair (welcoming with good food) was 2.5 miles away not 1 mile as stated so not a stroll to in the evening. The property itself was clean and the welcome pack(tea, milk etc.) was useful, however the house exterior and grounds were looking a little tired. The furniture arrangement in the lounge was a little odd, not very cosy. Also as the cottage was surrounded by trees (some of which I think looked like needing attention) it was nearly always in the shade so was quite cold even when we were there in August. Please note there are 16 steps to the front door not 6 as stated on the website. The kitchen was a little small for a family of 4 but well stocked with crockery, utensils etc. The shower was a bit of a challenge as there was no curtain or shower hose holder, so sit down showers were order of the day. The games room was excellent-pool table especially. All in all enjoyed our stay. [Was a little surprised that ,apart from a chance meeting in the drive way when we arrived, we did not see the owners again all week]."

"The house is set in beautiful mature grounds , with plenty of walks Being very well furnished , plenty of room for our family of eleven plus baby Very large impressive dining room & another very large sitting room Plus lower ground floor study & TV room , again very well furnished We remarked it was like going to stay with friends rather than a letting propertyThe big draw for our family was the large , very new looking indoor swimming pool , plus sauna , changing facilities etc , most impressive !Our family members ranged from eleven months to seventy six , there was something for us all to do We had excellent lunches at two local hotels , the local coffee , cake & light meals cafe , the Coo Shed was an education , great place Some of family even played golf at " Trump Towers" very posh golf club On the down side there are very steep spiral stairs , so if a member of your party is disabled you should be aware of this point"

"This is a great place to stay. The owner is great and very helpful. We spent a week here with our two Shih Tzu's and they loved it with the big garden fully enclosed except the gate but they never even tried to go though it. Inside is very clean and comfortable with everything you would need. We were even able to record a programme we wanted to see so that we were able to see it later in the week. Beds clean and comfortable. Shower great with a bath if you would rather use. Only down side is the local drivers who think that the lane outside is a race track as they now it well, so be very careful when driving around corners. (Buy a dashcam for evidence). We had our Grandchildren stay for 2 nights and were made very welcome. The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits is a very nice touch by the owner. All in all, I would recommend this place to all and will be returning ourselves in the future."
