"Excellent location.... That's we're the good news ends, very tired property which is fine for the price and that can be excused. But.... damp in upstairs on suite, (could smell it not see it) damp in main bathroom. Dado rail's were black with dust, as we're skirting boards, don't think master bedroom had been hoovered between guests as found toenails on bedroom floor, not 100% convinced master bedroom sheets had been changed, there was blood on the sheets on one of the beds in back bedroom. Heading down stairs I had to clean the bath before use, the none slip mat is covered in mould, in living room, dvd doesn't always work, carpet next to skirting boards is black, dog hairs throughout the property (I knew pets were allowed but in previous properties I've stayed in this has never been a problem). In dinning room my 2 year old spilt some milk so moped it up and left a clean line on the floor. Kitchen was actually fine but had to clean the glasses before use. This property is filthy dirty, would not recommend I appreciate its nearing the end of a season and would expect things to be tired but can not forgive being dirty. Nearly left after 1st day, glad I didn't enjoyed windomere and will return but not this property. To be honest can not complain about Cumbrian cottages or owner really as I made an error in not reporting issues immediately so they did not have a chance to rectify any issues and cleaned and muddled through myself, however if this is representative of their properties I will look elsewhere in future."

"We are a family of two adults, a teenager and a toddler. S18634 was a perfect getaway for us all. It's a ten-minute drive from the M6 and about 20 minutes to Penrith. We visited Windermere which took a little over an hour, though there was snow so we were driving with caution. The accommodation is lovely and the photos on the website really don't do it justice. The zip-wire in the garden kept us all entertained and we enjoyed walking around to see the pond with the swans. The crazy golf course was covered in snow when we were there but it looked like it would have been fun for the family. The kitchen is one of the most well-stocked rental property kitchens we'd ever seen - there were more appliances than we have in our own home! The house was warm, despite the weather and there were plenty of books and board games to keep us occupied in the evenings. There are two bathrooms, though no bath. The owners are lovely and strike the perfect balance between being welcoming hosts and leaving you to have your own space. We cannot recommend S18634 highly enough and very much hope to go back again."

"The cottage was ideal for our family - 2 adults, 3 children - age range 6 to 13 and our dog.It was well equipped and the rooms were of a fairly good size. The master bed room and the double room were particularly good in terms of size. The furniture and decor were tasteful but not fussy so we felt at home there and did not feel worried about children or dog being around expensive ornaments etc - i.e. it has a lovely lived in feel. The separate lounge and dinning room allow for flexible living. The utility room was a good size and particularly useful in terms of boot and coat storage. It was also an ideal place to dry off a dog.The woodburing stove was a treat and kept the downstairs very warm when lit.The village is quiet and lovely. I was very relaxing to work from the cottage to different parts of the village. There is a good shop and lovely places to eat in nearby Askham. Penrith is also within easy reach. This was a corner of the Lake District that we have not explored before and we enjoyed it as a less busy place compared to the central lakes."

"Cottage on a farm with another cottage next-door and owner in farm-house on site. The cottage is in the middle of nowhere and it snowed when we went in February. Fantastic views of night-sky from garden. It was modern inside, spotlessly clean, comfortable sofas, well equipped with games for kids. Some thoughtful extras - wine, sweets. Easy to use, cosy feeling optimist fire. Our main problem was that the biomass heating came on in the night in the bedroom. It was vibrating and making a loud low hum and could not be turned off, so we couldn't sleep on the first night. It was a mistake that was sorted out quickly the next day when we spoke to the owner's son. We had chosen the property from the description/photos which said there was a large wooden play area just outside the cottage. The children were looking forward to this, but unfortunately it had recently been removed to make room for the garden for the larger property next door. It should have been changed on the description but it had not been."

"The location is good for Windermere, but Bowness has more attractions. Cleaning appears to be an unknown concept the house was dirty. The tooth brush glass on the sink was dirty with someone else’s tooth paste, gritty surfaces and fridge, cobwebs and dust around ceiling and lights. We moved an arm chair when looking for one of the kids toys and the area under and behind had obviously not been cleaned for a long time. The cooker however had all the settings rubbed off, so the hob you could work out but the oven was difficult to use not knowing what temperature it was at etc. The WiFi hardly works. It must be noted that the staircases in the property are steep, which would need to be considered for young children, elderly etc. The little drive although tight for a big car was a god send as we were there for Easter and there was no street parking available. With a good clean, updated kitchen appliances and a different internet provider this could be an excellent place to stay."
