"The windows on the ground floor and first floor don’t open, which makes that you don’t have fresh air on these floors during your holiday. There’s also no system to keep the windows open, you have to put an object in between to keep them open. The water facilities at S81449 are not sufficient to meet long periods of dry weather. The shower was not working properly, it was either too hot or too cold and kept changing temperature. The toilet on the ground floor smells all the time, which is really uncomfortable since it’s next to the living room and kitchen. The cottage was not sufficiently cleaned from insects and cob webs before our arrival. The shower was not clean and was not draining properly. The big plus about this cottage are the 3 big fields which you can use to play on. XXX OWNER RESPONSE XXX Thank you for your feedback and we do make every attempt to ensure all our guest's stays are comfortable as this is very important to us. Due to a 'main water pipe that serves the village ' leaking the water pressure was reduced by the water board which did effect the Watermill. We did offer our own home to you for showers during the 12 hour issue which you accepted along with the bottled water that we provided for you. The exceptionally hot weather did bring with it a number of insects and on your request we did have the hay field cut for your children to play on which did produce a number of flying ants."

"This was an excellent location for us to stay with our border collie dog. It was next to a traditional country house hotel, and you only have to walk through the grounds of the hotel to get to the lake side foot path around Rutland water. There is an accessible track which makes easy walking all around the lake. The cottage has a garden, shared with adjoining cottages, which we found to be secure for our border collie. We enjoyed sitting out in the sun on the garden furniture and playing with our dog. (As no-one was in the other cottages we had it to ourselves). I really liked the copper beach trees as it made the cottage feel like a quiet woodland hideaway - I did not hear any road noise or any other noise. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable (though the bathroom light switch cord could be lengthened for a shorter person staying there). We enjoyed having tea in the hotel garden overlooking the lake."

"We have just returned from a wonderful few days in S81449 and all I can say is WOW! I didn't want to come home. It has all the amenities you need including a fully equipped kitchen, ground floor WC, a generous sized lounge, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor with impressive views to all sides and to add to this it is situated in beautiful grounds. We loved the early evening stroll around the property in the sunshine and then finished the evening off with a glass of wine watching the sun set. S81449 is located about a mile from the lovely village of Barrowden, complete with the village pub on the green opposite the impressive duck pond. The locals are friendly and we also visited to community shop which stocked everything you could possibly need. Well worth a visit!!"
