"There’s also no system to keep the windows open, you have to put an object in between to keep them open. The water facilities at S81449 are not sufficient to meet long periods of dry weather. The shower was not working properly, it was either too hot or too cold and kept changing temperature. The toilet on the ground floor smells all the time, which is really uncomfortable since it’s next to the living room and kitchen. The cottage was not sufficiently cleaned from insects and cob webs before our arrival. The shower was not clean and was not draining properly. The big plus about this cottage are the 3 big fields which you can use to play on. XXX OWNER RESPONSE XXX Thank you for your feedback and we do make every attempt to ensure all our guest's stays are comfortable as this is very important to us. Due to a 'main water pipe that serves the village ' leaking the water pressure was reduced by the water board which did effect the Watermill. We did offer our own home to you for showers during the 12 hour issue which you accepted along with the bottled water that we provided for you. The exceptionally hot weather did bring with it a number of insects and on your request we did have the hay field cut for your children to play on which did produce a number of flying ants."

"We love the cosy feel of the place. It really does feel like a home from home. It is nicely finished and well equipped. This is a lovely part of the world. It's great for people with dogs, and there are some fabulous walks, especially good for off-lead dog walking. I would recommend visiting the Tourist Board in Oakham, as they have some great circular walks of the local areas, with lovely open countryside, and few livestock (particularly appealing when you have dogs!)We had a great time there for a week. The cottage itself was cosy and very well equipped. We took our two Irish setters who seemed very happy - plenty of good dog walks. If you are after off-lead dog walking we would recommend parking at Barnsdale car park (Rutland Water) and there is a decent section where dogs are allowed off lead. The other good place for allowing dogs to run free was Fineshade Wood. It's a lovely part of the world. We would definitely recommend an evening meal at Barnsdale Lodge - food delicious and atmosphere fabulous. We will be back!"

"This was an excellent location for us to stay with our border collie dog. It was next to a traditional country house hotel, and you only have to walk through the grounds of the hotel to get to the lake side foot path around Rutland water. There is an accessible track which makes easy walking all around the lake. The cottage has a garden, shared with adjoining cottages, which we found to be secure for our border collie. We enjoyed sitting out in the sun on the garden furniture and playing with our dog. (As no-one was in the other cottages we had it to ourselves). I really liked the copper beach trees as it made the cottage feel like a quiet woodland hideaway - I did not hear any road noise or any other noise. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable (though the bathroom light switch cord could be lengthened for a shorter person staying there). We enjoyed having tea in the hotel garden overlooking the lake."

"We have just returned from a wonderful few days in S81449 and all I can say is WOW! I didn't want to come home. It has all the amenities you need including a fully equipped kitchen, ground floor WC, a generous sized lounge, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor with impressive views to all sides and to add to this it is situated in beautiful grounds. We loved the early evening stroll around the property in the sunshine and then finished the evening off with a glass of wine watching the sun set. S81449 is located about a mile from the lovely village of Barrowden, complete with the village pub on the green opposite the impressive duck pond. The locals are friendly and we also visited to community shop which stocked everything you could possibly need. Well worth a visit!!"

"The accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The only thing was that the garden area wasn't enclosed so that the dog could wander on her own. A side from that we will definitely be booking again next year. This was resolved by the local Hotel staff quickly and simply, but they commented that they normally were advised, but in this case no instruction was given. This did not spoil our stay in any way, just feedback in case the booking process could be improved in that respect. Otherwise, the overall booking process was simple and straightforward, communications and information was clear and we had a great stay in a really good location. Thank you."
