"Overall a pleasant stay, however, some little issues: As already mentioned in a review of september the heating next in the lounge doesn´t work. This is no problem on a normal day, but it became a problem during days like our arrival day which was stormy, rainy and cold. The cottage felt really drafty and uncomfortable when we arrived and it took us at least two hours not to feel cold any more. The electric oven is not really powerful enough for the whole room as the ceilings are high. Also the loose hot water tap in the bathroom hasn´t been fixed since september and could hardly be used. I wouldn´t call it a problem, but it is an inconvenience. No recycling was possible, quite a surprise. Cobwebs are ok for me but if you have a problem with that this cottage is definitely not yours. All in all the cottage has been tastefully restored and equipped well, but it is not being looked after too carefully if I compare it to the other cottage in Battle where we stayed over easter. It was tolerably clean.Location is stunning,in the middle of nowhere, you hear birds singing morning and evening and see lots of squirrels. I found it a bit uncanny at night when it gets extremely dark and the rest of the building, incl ground floor, is completely uninhabitated but produces some strange noises.I would recommend it for the summer but would refrain from going there when it´s cold."

"Castlemans Stables is a wonderful place to stay. The property is of a very high standard and the owner goes to great lengths to make sure guests a enjoyable break. The kitchen is already well stocked with the sort of things that are a pain to bring on a cottages holiday (foil, cling film, washing up liquid dishwasher tabs) and there is a lovely welcome basket on arrival. The furnishings are very comfortable. The deck (with furniture and BBQ) offers great views. Wifi works well. There is also a handy utility room (we used the freezer for getting a couple of meals from the Cook Shop in Battle). The position is great with lots to see and do locally. The local village is just right - a good pub (children welcome) and a small shop. Enough for what you need while preserving the proper small village feel. Despite being next door to another cottage and near the owner's home, the cottage always feels very private. The owner provides what you need and then leaves you to have a relaxing holiday. Perfect. This was our 4th visit (family of 4 with daughter 8 and 14) and I image we will come back again."

"02 phone reception no signal most of the timeInternet slow and patchy, we could not check e mails for the 2 weeks we were thereWhen we arrived we found a plug with the top missing on top of the fire with bare terminals exposed. We left it with a danger label on. The following problems were found: The light above the sink did not work. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink was very loose. The loo seat was very loose and would occasionaly fall down whilst I was standing doing a pee. The storage heater in the lounge did not work. The floors and carpets were dirty and there were cobwebs galore. The glass shelf over the bathroom sink was loose. There were no recycling facilities. We were told that we would be contacted for the sheet and towel change on the middle Saturday so we stopped in until 11 am and we were back by 4pm but no one contacted us."

"we have been to Snaylam before and liked it . We really enjoyed our holiday and was very pleased with the cottage . I particularly liked the fact that it was fitted with grip bars and had a walk in shower . I have mobility problems so a disabled friendly cottage was ideal. We were warmly greeted by the owner who had baked us a cake and provided some eggs . It was much appreciated .The house was tastefully decorated and was spotlessly clean . The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of extra pillows and blankets should they be needed. On the whole it was a delightful place set in a lovely ,peaceful location. We were able to "chill" out and relax . We would certainly go again ."

"We had a very peaceful and relaxed weekend at the cottage with our dog Frankie. The cottage is very pretty, and well supplied with home comforts. It is a good base to visit Rye, Winchelsea and Camber Sands. Rye was a suprising treasure and very dog friendly. The real down side was that I could not walk from the cottage with the dog, other than a small lane leading to three other properties. The B road next to the cottage was not safe to walk along, as there is no path and traffic is travelling at speed. This meant we had to take the car when ever we wanted to get out and explore the surrounding country side."
