"We have spent many holidays in Rothbury, using it as a base to stock up on provisions and choosing to travel by car to explore the vast county of Northumbria.S80461 was an ideal location, being just on the outskirts of Rothbury, high on a hill with uninterrupted views of breathtaking countryside. It is set away from the farm itself and so is not overlooked.Janice is a welcoming host. She left us milk, tea, coffee and cake so that we were able to chill before starting our unpacking. She visited to welcome us and came to say goodbye at the end of our stay. The cottage itself exceeded our expectation. It was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard with new appliances and all the equipment we required.During our week we visited various parts of Hadrians Wall, a number of castles including Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Brinkburn Priory down the road from the cottage, and Howick Hall. We also visited the harbour at Amble, and the beach at Durridge Bay.We ate out too and there are lots of lovely coffee shops, restaurants and pubs around. We particularly liked the Three Wheat Heads at Thopton and the tea room at Howick Hall."

"Great converted barn 20 minutes from Alnwick. Generally clean and tidy, comfy bed.The property is very rural, whilst everything is about a 20 minute drive away, it does mean a very quiet, restful location.Attention to detail is the biggest drawback of this cottage: dead flies on windowsills and only two tea bags. On the plus side, very clean linen, towels and a bottle of red wine on arrival.TV is a little on the small side for the space, but we were there to explore the area anyway, so not a problem for us. This property should not have been advertised with WiFi. We struggled to get any connection as it shares a BT Hub with an adjoining property and constantly kept dropping. Given the rural location we also struggled to get any 3/4G. So prepare to be off grid.Overall, a lovely little property, clean to an acceptable level and well positioned to explore a broad area. Particularly good if you want some time away with no internet access."

"What an amazing cottage, set in lovely grounds with amazing views too. We were greeted by the owner, a really lovely lady called Elaine. She told us some history of the house which was very interesting. We had some basic provisions provided, bread, tea, coffee, wine and some sweets for the children- which were all very much appreciated. The cottage was comfortable for the 8 of us plus a baby. The bedrooms were clean and bright and a generous size. The bathrooms all had shampoo, conditioner and shower gel and there were plenty of towels available. The ensuite bedroom would benefit from having a plug socket near one of the mirrors, but that is just a very minor thing that didn't in any way overshadow our wonderful stay here. I couldn't recommend this cottage highly enough. It is definitely one of the best we have stayed in."

"We had such a wonderful time we didn't want to come home and would loved to have stayed longer... Sadly this was not to be. This didn't detract from our having had a wonderful time. Zoe and her family were really welcoming; the working farm was good to see although my mum didn't feel brave enough to lend a hand delivering the baby lambs! the cottage was cosy, stocked full of equipment and plenty of kitchen utensils... The welcome shortbread biscuits, cake, milk and butter were all locally sourced and delicious. We made use of the log fire, enjoyed the snow and the rain is simply weather so it didn't deter us from venturing out and about to enjoy the local area. Thoroughly recommended and thanks again to Zoe for a wonderful stay."

"What a fabulous place!Outstanding views from the lounge and bedroom windows, loved to sit with a coffee in the morning and wake-up to the beautiful views of the garden, golf-course and mountains in the distance.I am fussy, but the whole apartment was spotless. Well equipped with quality furniture and fixtures. We'll definitely stay here again!Have a visit to Ingram Valley and the excellent cafe there serving quality food and drinks, lovely obliging owners. Wonderful photographs to be taken of the scenery at any time of the year!I would not usually book an apartment, but would not hesitate again. Simply perfect for us and our teenage daughters needing essential WiFi etc..."
