"The things I would have wanted to know about Moorecroft before going :Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, 1 has an ensuite with no shower, 1 is next door to a bathroom and the 3rd is across the hall past the lounge so is a walk to the bathroom – we had four people staying in all 3 bedrooms and all 4 of us shared the 1 bathroom. All bedrooms are in the eaves, with a 6ft2” husband this really didn’t work well.Downstairs is very open plan – too open plan to allow for effective use of all the space with a large group who at times want some separation. The 2 kids rooms and 1 bathroom are behind the pool and through the dining room, for us with teenagers this was a problem as with no clear separation from kitchen to bedrooms we were having to be very quiet each morning and only use the upstairs lounge meaning up and down for refreshments to the kitchen. The cinema room is open plan to the downstairs lounge and you can only use either the cinema TV or the lounge TV – we had hoped for 3 distinctive TV areas but there are only 2. There is another bathroom behind the cinema room, we didn’t use this at all as it was in such a difficult place.Overall, it’s a very confused layout that would only work for a very specific group of people. We were 6 in total, I cannot imaging fitting 12 into the cottage. The garden was very small.Parking for 3 cars doesn’t really exist, the driveway is on the steepest of slopes, we didn’t even attempt to bring a car down to the bottom so parked 1 of our 2 cars on the road.Worst of all for the children was WiFi awful. On the positives the cottage is clean and in the most part well equipped, the pool was great. It’s in a great location – we were there over half term so very expensive and overall we wouldn’t spend that amount of money on staying again."

"Thankyou for a really nice last minute getaway the peak district is a lovely place....this was the first time we have ever taken our dog with us and it was amazing the cottage has everything you could want.a very luxury feel even down to the drinking glasses!my only issue would have been the bed in the main bedroom. would have preferred it to be kingsize/superking size but I am 6ft5 and is always an issue when going places to stay over not the cottages fault....more mine but I think If you ever upgrade do it to a king size or superking it would warrant a few more ££££s per stay but totally worth it for me personally.the garden is also lovely to sit in and relax.the parking could of been an issue....I was going to bring 2 cars because we were bringing the dog and the kids bikes etc and had seen on the reviews about there being enough parking for 2 cars in front of the cottage..we parked directly infront of our cottage and on the night had a neighbour knocking on the door telling us that was her spot and we would have to move forward next time we went out.she told us our parking is just on the concrete next to the posts wich made it more difficult to get out and in after we were blocked in by the neighbour I'm just glad we didn't bring the 2 cars as one review says you can park in a lay by down the road but while we were there that lay by was taken up by 3 cars someone local was selling.so could of been a big issue as no parking anywhere for possibly a mile each way of the cottage."

"We had a great time at the cottage, the swimming pool was a fantastic hit with everyone, very clean, plenty of room, near to Buxton shops and a brilliant park at the bottom of the hill, would definitely go again but not for a few years!! the reason being that we had two babies in our group (age one and two) the cottage does not cater for babies at all !!.....no cots ( not even travel cots - we had to buy two!!!) No highchairs,no stair gates! (We brought three with us but the opening downstairs leading upstairs was far too wide for any of the three gates that we brought!) It was a nightmare all week keeping the little ones from trying to go upstairs and also a nightmare carrying all this extra equipment with us from home!!! Luckily we enquired with English Country Cottages before we left as we saw another review complaining about this or we would have arrived on the first night with nowhere for the babies to sleep!!!!!!We have stayed at getting on for a hundred cottages over the years bigger and smaller and everyone has caterered for babies (if needed) so this disappointed us a lot ( hense the overall score)If you accept babies you should cater for them!!! Especially as you know ages of quests as it has them on the booking form............."

"Cotton Cottage was ideal for a family holiday visiting caves and hill walking to inspire two 13 year old people. We had a supermarket delivery the eve of our arrival and the many cafes, restaurants and pubs sorted meals. The footpath to Lose hill is opposite the gate and from there you can walk the hills round to Mam Tor. The cottage is comfy with a TV in the spacious lounge and also in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. You wake to a cockerel and chickens in the yard and horses close by. The kitchen has attractive quality farmhouse style crockery and chunky glasses. Adequate cooking utensils microwave and 2 fridges were really useful. The owner who lives in the nearby farmhouse was around and friendly and in no way intrusive. The garden is lovely with several seats with views of the valley. We will return!!"

"Our family of 5 plus our 2 small dogs enjoyed our week at Moorecroft. The main attraction is having your own private pool. It was also a novelty coming in through the front door and being on the 1st floor and going downstairs to ground floor. The only negative thing I have to say is that in my opinion the house has very little kerb appeal, for how much it costs I didn't expect to see so many weeds on the drive and growing out of the guttering, looked a little scruffy. However, this obviously didn't effect us in any way, just an observation. Inside the house is lovely and Oliver the caretaker is brilliant, any problems he sorts immediately. The pool is gorgeous and was used so much, however if you use the bedroom by the PS4's the noise from the pool filters may bother you all night."
