"The village of Longnor is lovely and a good location for a holiday in the Peak District. In terms of the cottage itself, this would be a much nicer holiday cottage than it is if it was maintained better and brought up to date. It smells damp, especially in the kitchen, and we found slug trails across the rug in the lounge. The kitchen itself is very difficult to prepare meals in; there is very little worktop space, it is extremely dark (light required to be on at all times) and there are no cupboards - all the equipment is stored on open shelving, some of which is located behind the oven and is not easily or safely accessible, especially when the oven is on. The oven itself is extremely old; the door is broken and the temperature dials have fallen off. It needs replacing as it is not safe cooking meals when trying to guess at the correct temperature. Washing up is difficult as there is no draining board - the draining rack is in the sink so if you tip the dirty water away before you have dried up, it will go all over the clean items. We could not get the heating to work as the controls were not accessible due to broken covers on all but one of the heaters, so we found the cottage very cold. The portable radiator upstairs was broken. The bed linen was old and stained, and had some sort of limescale-like dirt all over it. Overall, we could not recommend this as a good cottage to choose if you want a relaxing holiday. We were surprised and disappointed in view of the previous positive reviews."

"Just returned from our christmas break at gunside farm, what can i say the cottage was fantastic it was just great for christmas, it was very spacious cosy lovelly and warm just wished we used the log burner more as it was so warm we did not need it. It was well equiped only thing we missed was some kitchen utensils but we made do. The intetnet was up and down depending on where you were in the cottage but was a bonus as not advertised with wi fi. The owners were very accomadating even puting a second telly in so the kids could play there games and very friendly. Loved feeding the chickens kids did to, we did not go out much as wanted relaxing break but is a great location for exploring the area and not to far from the town with fantastic views. Would highly recomend thank you to the owners it lived up to our expectations and more. The white and Bouher family"

"Lovely cottage that was very warm, with underfloor heating, and nicely decorated. Would be better if it had wifi, and the mattress in the main bedroom seemed a bit worn (springy and uneven). Also, bedroom walls were a bit thin such that we could hear next door neighbours at night; however, they were a friendly couple that were a pleasure to meet. Bathroom was modern and bright and had quite a large shower. Overall, cottage was very clean and characterful. Owner was helpful and attentive, and one could tell much was provided in the cottage to make our stay comfortable."

"A lovely holiday conversion spoilt by a caretaker who doesn't respond to questions, no welcome pack and half a loo roll !!After a five hour drive the cottage looked lovely and it would have been nice to have had just a pint of milk in the fridge to make a cup of tea and a welcome note. The furniture in the lounge is office lobby furniture and uncomfortable and not relaxing to sit on.Cleanliness and quality of conversion are good, though no wi-fi or phone signal available?!Such a shame that a nice cottage has been let down by a lack of customer care / service. "The cottage was neat and well equipped (only thing missing was a hairdryer), the location was idyllic and the village was charming. The chip shop was fantastic, we sampled its delights after a 5 mile walk from the book supplied in the cottage. Used the book of walks on 3 occasions during our stay and highly recommend it. Found trips to Bakewell and Buxton exceeded expectation as both were delightful, a must if staying in Longnor. One of the best things about the location was NO mobile phone signal (bliss!!!). March 2011."
