"The property reviews and photos make clear that this isn’t an overly roomy cottage in some areas but once you accept this then Bay Tree Cottage 1 is a really good place to stay for exploring this part of the country. Colchester Zoo (well worth a visit) is virtually on the doorstep and other places such as Sutton Hoo, Lavenham and Southend are around an easy hours drive (or less). There is a shop about 5 minutes drive away and Colchester with supermarkets etc. is about 10-15 minutes. The cottage is clean, the bedroom good-sized and comfortable and the kitchen well - equipped. The owner, Trevor, answered a couple of queries I texted quickly and courteously and I’m confident if there had been any problems (there weren’t) help would have been easy to acquire. We had a very enjoyable week, and would stay again."

" A gem of a little cottage. Sitting on the edge of a huge apple orchard with abundant wildlife around you, a pond is also within the grounds. The cottage is away from the owners home and the cottage is not overlooked, the owners are definitely not intrusive, but on hand if needed and left all a good selection of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, chocolate biscuits. which was a lovely touch. Within a few minutes drive of couple of small shops, but we went prepared with everything we'd need for a weekend break so we didn't have to leave and I'm so glad we did as when it came time to go home, we really didn't want to go. The cottage has lots of repeat visitors and we could easily understand why, we will certainly go back. "

"The cottage is in a perfect position, close to the beach and the high street, yet far enough back to be quiet. The cottage is beautifully decorated, yet I fear there is a degree of style over substance. The red sofa in the dining room is very uncomfortable and hence we never sat on it after the first go. The chairs in the living room are equally not the most comfortable. The lack of a dishwasher is a real shame, especially if you come with children (which the cottage is otherwise well set up for). I know space is tight but as someone who stays in many cottages this is a real down side. The drainage needs sorting. The fact that the green waste floods the path and then street is embarrassing and unpleasant to walk in."

"lovely cottage and fabulous hosts, with everything we could need. Close to Ebbsfleet for a day trip to Brussels which was excellent, though I would recommend booking your tickets as far in advance as you can to get the best price, I paid £85 return for each of us, but have to say it was well worth it. To help getting around buy 24hr underground tickets when you get there as this lets you go all over the city. We would recommend getting the metro to Brosse and going to the Grand Place, include a visit to Hard Rock Café in the corner of the Place. Close to the A2 & M20 with so much to do in the area. Dover Castle is a definite recommend as are the war time tunnels, though be warned there is quite a bit of walking."

"Much enjoyed our week in this very well appointed and comfortable property with nice owners, located in a very quiet, attractive, rural spot well removed from the village and main roads, with excellent dog walks along a permissive bridleway which commences close by. With no livestock in the vicinity, dogs were able to trot along off lead. Rochester old town is very nice to visit, as are Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate, and Canterbury. By far the best beach is Dymchurch on the South coast, lovely sand, views and blue sea, where the dogs had a good swim on the ample permitted area. A much appreciated welcome pack is provided, including white wine and fresh local eggs. In summary, a well recommended property."
