About this property

Cynefin Bach is a fabulous, traditional stone holiday cottage near Harlech, nestled in the hills above the River Dwyryd. Boasting the most beautiful views down the estuary towards the Italianate village of Portmeirion, this is a truly idyllic setting. The holiday cottage itself has oodles of character - vaulted beamed ceilings, wattle and daub walls, quarry tile flooring and a stunning stone fireplace all add to the aesthetic. Don’t worry, old definitely does meet new here!

The open plan sitting and dining room is really impressive with lovely high ceilings and a stone hearth with large wood burning stove. Despite its spaciousness, it’s certainly a cosy space once you get that log burner going! Comfortable sofas are set around a TV which offers a basic Sky TV package, too. The dining area has a table and chairs and offers the ideal spot for your morning cuppa and croissant!

The kitchen is entirely unique to this holiday cottage. In here is a Belfast sink and slate worktops as well as an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.

There is also a gorgeous sun-room that offers stunning views over the gardens and beyond. Comfortable seating allows you to sit here and soak up the surroundings. There is also a large dining table which is great for getting the whole clan together for a meal.

One of the most interesting features is the mezzanine above the sitting and dining room, affectionately referred to by the owner’s as ‘Molly’s Snug’. This is the ideal place for some quiet relaxation time, for reading a book, or for the children to have an adult-free space to watch a film. Up here is a TV and DVD player with a selection of films, books and games.

The double room has an ensuite with handheld shower attachment over the bath, loo, towel radiator and hand basin. The second bedroom has twin beds.

A family bathroom has a large waterfall shower, loo, towel radiator and hand basin.

Head outside from the sun room and you’ll find the decked area which then leads around to a large pond. Cynefin Bach is nestled in around an acre of enclosed garden with multiple seating options - sit out here and soak up the gorgeous estuary views, listen to the birdsong in the morning or enjoy an al fresco brunch! There is also parking space for three cars.

In the area surrounding Cynefin Bach you can enjoy leisurely walks along footpaths, beaches or through popular Snowdonia towns and villages. Scale the nearby hills to be rewarded with panoramic views of the mountains, including Snowdon itself. Head to historic Harlech for a cake and a ‘panad’ - Welsh for cuppa! - or to visit the Castle and sandy beach. Take a trip in the opposite direction to the village of Portmeirion or the fab harbour town of Porthmadog. There is so much to see, do and experience from this holiday cottage - however, a relaxing break can be had, too!

Llandecwyn is a scattered rural hamlet in North Wales, which stands amidst farmland, hills with lakes and mountains, which are all perfect for scenic walks and mountain biking. Llandecwyn is set on the National Cycle Route 8, plus birdwatching can be enjoyed on the red kite waymarked trail, which passes through the hamlet. There are also birdwatching opportunities along the coast and at the rspb Osprey project, which is nearby. Only 5 miles away is historic Harlech, which is situated in a magnificent position between the mountains and the sea. Harlech is dominated by its majestic 13th century castle, which enjoys World Heritage status. The town is very popular with golfers, who come to enjoy the famous Royal St. David's course, whilst the beautiful 6 mile long sandy beach is wonderful for family fun and long walks. Harlech offers an excellent variety of amenities including some good quality restaurants and a leisure centre, whilst the whole of the Snowdonia National Park, together with the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay, are all within easy reach. Other attractions in the area include the Ffestiniog Railway and Welsh Highland Light Railway, the secluded beaches at Borth y Guest and the Black Rock sands and the Italianate village of Portmeirion. A really beautiful part of North Wales.
