About this property

Tucked away in the charming hamlet of Prenteg near Porthmadog, Gwynedd, is this wonderful former quarryman’s cottage, 2 Bryn Eglwys. Enjoying a superb location in the stunning Snowdonia National Park, with exceptional walks and bike rides right from your front door, 2 Bryn Eglwys is a fantastic family-friendly choice for couples, friends and families. The property benefits from off-road parking in the adjacent free park, and a sloping lawned garden with furniture and barbecue, perfect for evening drinks or alfresco dining with a view. On the ground floor, you will find a well-equipped kitchen/diner, where you can cook up family favourites, ready to enjoy at the dining table as you recount the day's adventures. After dinner, make your way through to the inviting sitting area, where you can fire up the woodburning stove, before settling down to watch a film on the TV with a DVD player. Head upstairs, where you will find a contemporary bathroom, where you can freshen up in the walk-in shower or indulge in a leisurely soak in the bath. When sleep calls, retire to one of three tastefully decorated bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single, all ideal for catching up on some well-deserved rest. Wander around the hamlet, where you can visit the wildlife rich Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife – Ospreys for leisurely strolls, visit the nearby Aberdunant Hall, where you will find an on-site restaurant and a bar, tire the little ones out at the playground just across the road, or amble up to the lovely 3-ft waterfall nearby. For a wider selection of amenities and attractions, head to Porthmadog, where you can explore the Maritime Museum, embark on a walk with the Black Rock Llamas, hop aboard the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, dine at The Australia and The Port Café Deli & Restaurant. Nearby, you can visit the popular Black Rock Sands Beach Club, spend a day on the beach, and test out your swing at the excellent golf club. Venture into the Snowdonia National Park, where you can tackle the word-famous Snowdon Peak, visit the World Heritage Site of Blaenau Ffestiniog, where you can explore underground mines at Zip World Llechwedd, explore the fascinating Dolwyddelan Castle, wander the treetops at Zip World Fforest at Betws-y-Coed. Continue to explore the National Park, where you will find the legend rich village of Beddgelert, or the Llyn Peninsula, where you will find Pwllheli and Criccieth, home to a magnificent castle. All this and more awaits you with a stay at 2 Bryn Eglwys.

Prenteg is a small village in Snowdonia National Park, located at the base of Moel Ddu Mountain and not far from Tremadog Bay. Village once known for its slate and copper mining is now famous for being home to Wales' only nesting osprey. Pothmadog, just 4 miles away along the Glaslyn Estuary, is a lively harbour town with an exciting marina, a wide variety of unique shops and restaurants, and the historic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. The fantastic Italianate village of Portmeirion is a must-see, and the picturesque cliffs and coves, as well as the enormous Black Rock Beach, make for a perfect day trip. This is a great place to stay to explore Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula, as you will be close to the mountain towns of Criccieth, Harlech, and Caernarfon, as well as many other outdoor attractions. Within a ten- to twenty-minute car ride, you can reach a number of stunning sand beaches. Borth-y-Gest, a hidden gem; Shell Island; Black Rock Sands; and Porthdinllaen, where a walk around the picturesque peninsula takes you to the Ty Coch Inn on the beach, rated one of the top 10 best beach bars in the world; all of these beaches are in North Wales. There are many wonderful beaches on the Llyn Peninsula, such as Porth Oer Beach, also called Whistling Sands because of the sound the sand makes when you walk on it, and where you can enjoy surfing, bodyboarding, and a delicious meal at the beachside café.

perfect location for going out and about. everything you would need and more is in the cottage, home from home. Children well catered for with loads of games and books ready there waiting to be played with. access to the cottage can be a bit difficult if you have mobility issues. Porthmadog only a couple of miles away as is a large Tesco store. Steam train journeys a must and my favourite was the Harbour Master. we really enjoyed are stay at the cottage and would book again Porthmadog only a couple of miles away as is a large tesco store. Steam train journeys a must for anyone, The Harbour Master was my favourite.
