Lofft Gwair is a rustic first floor conversion of an C18th hayloft, retaining original features and approached through a stone arch and cobbled courtyard at the owners' small pottery just outside Maentwrog. Situated in a lovely position next to the Dwyryd river and with a pretty garden to explore, this property is also within easy reach of many popular tourist attractions. Harlech 9 miles, Blaenau Ffestiniog 6 miles, Porthmadog 7 miles and Criccieth 12 miles.
The spacious, open plan main room has exposed trusses and beams, a three piece suite, TV/Freesat, oak dining table with a church pew, dining chairs and a 5ft 'sleigh' bed in one corner. Off the main room is a twin bedroom, a shower room and a compact fitted kitchen. Heating is by electric convectors and oil-filled radiators. The delightful shared garden has a sitting area and two small ponds, where young children should be supervised. Private parking and secure bike storage available.
Lofft Gwair is located in the Snowdonia National Park; this area has much to offer the visitor. Within walking distance are the beautiful gardens and tea rooms at Plas Tan y Bwlch, the pretty village and great pub at Maentwrog and a station on the Ffestiniog Railway. The castles and beaches at Harlech and Criccieth are a short drive away, the Italianate village at Portmeirion 5 miles, and 2 miles further is the small town, harbour and Welsh Highland Railway at Porthmadog. This whole area is popular for walking and cycling and for adrenaline junkies the famous Titan ZipWire and Bounce Below underground trampolines can be found at Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The cottage was beautiful, provisions were basic but we had everything we needed. We were very comfortable, plenty of space for the two of us, though the front door is a little low if you're tall! The owner was very helpful and friendly, and happy to get us anything we might have needed, but didn't disturb us and left us to our own devices. We had no problem with the £10 limit on the electric meter, and we were using the electric oven and 2 heaters every night. There's no DVD player but we took a laptop so that wasn't a problem. If you need phone signal then it's limited but there is enough to use. There's plenty of parking space, the entrance is a little narrow and bumpy, but we were in an old sports car and had no trouble. The cottage is on a main road, but we weren't disturbed by road noise. the price was very reasonable, and we would definitely consider going again. The area is lovely, roads aren't too bad and parking is reasonable is all the local areas. There are plenty of places to visit within a reasonable driving distance.
