About this property

This former quarryman's cottage, in a terrace with open aspect to the front, is situated in the village of Abergynolwyn, at the head of the Talyllyn steam railway, in the heart of south Snowdonia. Talyllyn lake is just a short drive away, and the steam railway connects Abergynolwyn with Tywyn, 7.5 miles away. Tywyn is a popular seaside town with a long sandy beach.

Nant-y-Mynydd is a comfortably refurbished cottage, accommodating four people in two bedrooms. The cottage is accessed from a private parking space and enclosed, paved yard at the rear. The dining kitchen has fitted units, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and slim dishwasher, and a small extending dining table and four chairs. The cosy sitting room has two leather-look sofas and pouffe, flatscreen FreeSat TV and DVD player, and an open fire. Coal and logs are supplied for the fire, which has a back boiler; there are central heating radiators run off the back boiler, and additional electric radiators when the fire is not in use. On the first floor is a bedroom with twin beds (pushed together, but with separate duvets), and a smart, contemporary bathroom with electric shower over the bath. The second floor bedroom, again with twin beds (but separate), has sloping ceilings but good headroom. Outside, the cottage has an enclosed yard to the rear, with coal bunker/log store, and a small patio area to the front with table and chairs, overlooking the stream and wooded hillside.

Abergynolwyn is an ideal, central destination for visiting south Snowdonia, within easy reach of the coast at Tywyn and Aberdyfi, and the mountains of the Cadair Idris range. The Talyllyn Railway is a lovely heritage train ride through the hills to the coast (or vice versa) and the lake is just a mile or so from the village. The cottage is also just a few yards from the village pub, The Railway Inn, and Caffi'r Ceunant, "The Best Little Cafe in Wales". Tywyn has a range of shops, pubs and eating places, as well as a leisure centre with swimming pool. A short drive down the coast is Aberdyfi, with sailing and other watersports facilities, sandy beach and historic golf course.

Electricity and heating included; fuel provided.

Bed linen provided.

No smoking please.
