About this property

A traditional character, detached stone-built cottage on the outskirts of Manod just over 1 mile from Blaenau Ffestiniog and 20 minutes from golden sandy beaches. Well-appointed and full of character, with many original features, this charming Manod cottage dates back to the 18th century and offers very welcoming accommodation throughout. This Manod cottage has a beamed, farmhouse kitchen and dining area with original slate floor and feature stone fireplace, and a cosy sitting room with warming woodburning stove set in a large inglenook hearth, with the original bread oven still in place. There are also stylish bedrooms with original stripped wood flooring and exposed stone walls, and a traditional bathroom. To the rear of your Manod cottage is a pretty, enclosed terraced garden with the benefit of off road parking. There are superb walking tracks from the doorstep of this Manod cottage that open onto miles of unspoilt countryside in the heart of Snowdonia, or perhaps you would rather get the mountain bikes out and enjoy the superb facilities at the nearby international downhill bike tracks? Don't miss the steam railway line from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog, opening up access to the whole of the Tremadog Bay coastline with its superb sandy beaches and miles of coastal paths. Whether it's stunning countryside or coastal towns you're looking for, this Manod cottage provides easy access for both. Note: This property is a few doors down from Ref. 28581, together they sleep 7.

The mountain of Manod Mawr has a long history of slate mining and some of the underground chambers were used to house National Treasures during the 2nd World War. Manod village is located in a natural bowl between the Manod and Moelwyn mountains and is well served by a number of shops and pubs, which are used to serving travellers on their way to Betws-Y-Coed, the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia' and the village at the base of Mount Snowdon. Many of Manod's old slate quarries are now tourist attractions, giving fascinating insights into the work undertaken by slate miners in years gone by. The nearby Ffestioniog Railway takes passengers on stunning scenic routes through the North Wales countryside. There are many good walks and cycle-trails to be found in the area and Manod's location provides easy access to other attractions such as Portmeirion - the Italian-designed village used as the setting for the cult TV-show, ‘The Prisoner' – and the white-water rafting opportunities provided at Bala.
