On the plus side it was in a good location, nice and quiet, the gas stove in the kitchen was great, big TV with Netflix, there was some lovely exposed stonework in parts of the cottage, and two of the bedrooms and the bathroom were very nice. We spent a lot of time next to the fire in the kitchen playing games as a family which was lovely! My main issue is that it felt more like a hostel than a welcoming home from home. This was partly due to the plethora of fire notices, signs, doors and extinguishers - the doors were so heavy our kids had difficulty getting through them and they effectively cut off each part of the house from the other giving it a very claustrophobic feel. We all like safety, but this was OTT. There was tatty plastic covering the kitchen chairs, the lounge was tiny, with very little seating and was hideously decorated with cheap, mismatching furniture and no attempt to give it a nice ambiance. It smelled of damp. There were no instructions on how to light the fire, where to park, what to do with rubbish etc. No soap anywhere, no milk/welcome pack (not essential I know but always a nice touch!). The cottage could be lovely - parts of it certainly are - but it needs some TLC to give it a nicer overall ambiance.

All amenities very close by and Dolgellau is a fantastic place to visit. Couldn’t fault the cottage-clean and spacious. Brilliant. Parking is an issue but don’t let that put you off. Stay here-it’s amazing
