About this property

Newbridge-on-Wye 2.3 miles. Set within peaceful countryside in the heart of Powys, with wildlife ponds on-site and plenty of land to explore, is The Carnau Lodgings. Traditional in style, with a warm and cosy feel, this hideaway is ideal for families and friends looking to escape to the country. On return from an adventure on the Brecon Beacons, a stunning region of verdant peaks and rolling hills, you can relax among the company of your loved ones and wrap yourself around the woodburner in the lounge. Rustle up a steaming hot dinner in the country-style kitchen and gather around the table, chat away the evening over a bottle of wine and catch up on events from the day. Climb the split-level staircase to the bedrooms, where you will find a light and bright twin with an en-suite shower, basin and WC, ideal for those travelling with kids. The single room at the other side of the staircase offers an A-framed picture window filled with countryside scenery, while the double has an adjoining bathroom. To the exterior is an enclosed garden, with plenty of lawn for the kids to run around on and wildlife to explore. You can join them in the hunt or instead relax on the sheltered patio with a refreshing drink in hand. The 'Snook' is an external cabin playing host to a sauna and a wet room, perfect for coming in after a long walk through Radnor Forest and indulging in a spot of luxury. Enjoy a hot soak in the hydro bath or an invigorating shower and later light the barbecue outside for relaxed alfresco dining. The small village of Newbridge-on-Wye offers a pub and shop, while the thriving market town of Rhayader hosts a selection of tea rooms, restaurants and much more. Builth Wells is also worth a visit and across the border you have the breath-taking Shropshire Hills within easy driving distance. There is clay pigeon shooting and fishing nearby the property on a fishing lake, a permit is needed. Consider a stay at this splendid getaway.

Situated on the meandering River Wye, Newbridge-on-Wye is a small and pretty village, just a short drive from lots of little villages and market towns, including the Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells. The little rural community boasts a popular pub, village stores and butcher’s shop and is surrounded by the breathtaking Mid Wales countryside. Fabulous walking can be done in the Radnor Forest and just ten miles away are the fantastic Elan Valley reservoirs and impressive Victorian dams. Take a trip to Rhayader, a bustling Welsh market town with a selection of tea rooms, pubs, restaurants, amenities and unique little boutiques, including local antiques, as well as the added bonus of a leisure centre with a large swimming pool and a weekly livestock market. You can also visit Builth Wells, where the Spring Festival, Royal Welsh Agricultural Show and Winter Fair are all held annually.
