A detached country cottage near Newtown enjoying lovely views. This period property is well-placed for exploring Mid Wales and North Wales.
Set on the side of a quiet lane, this detached country cottage enjoys lovely views of the surrounding fields and woods and is within 10 miles of the market towns of Newtown and Welshpool. The cottage retains many interesting original features, including beamed ceilings and original windows.
Tan y Ffridd has a heavily beamed sitting room, with Freeview TV and a DVD player and featuring a woodburning stove in the inglenook fireplace. The sitting room is separated by further oak beams from the attractive, traditional dining area, furnished with oak dining table and chairs and a Welsh dresser. There is a fitted kitchen diner which includes electric cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer, and a washing machine in a small separate utility porch. Also on the ground floor is a smart modern shower room. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (one with a washbasin) and one twin bedroom. Heating is by electric and night storage heaters and the woodburning stove; logs are available at a small extra charge. There is a large lawned, enclosed garden with garden furniture.
This period property is a couple of miles from the attractive village of Bettws Cedewain (with a good pub serving food) and 3 miles from Berriew with two pubs/restaurants, a popular bakery and cafe and Glansevern Gardens. Well-placed for exploring Mid and North Wales, with excellent walking from the door. Nearby attractions include the Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion Light Railway and Powis Castle (NT).
Please note: as well as the staircase, there are several other changes of level and internal steps, and a steep flight of steps from the roadside down to the cottage; not particularly suitable for the infirm.

Lovely quaint cottage in a very quiet location. You could lose hours just sitting and watching the view from the garden. Stay at Tan y Ffridd if you want to recharge your batteries.
