    About this property

A charming, traditional cottage in the secluded village of St. Ishmaels in Pembrokeshire. With a homely interior, Fisherman's Cottage is perfect for a couple or small family break. Upon entering this cottage you are immediately welcomed into a warming sitting room set with comfortable seating and a traditional open fire, a perfect place for some quality chill time in the evenings. This property really has the rustic, romantic feel to it with the traditional furnishings and exposed stone walls adding character. The well-equipped kitchen holds all that you need for a break in the country, finished with charming touches like the multi-coloured tiles and breakfast bar. A walk up the traditional narrow, steep cottage stairs brings you up to the cosy first floor, complete with delightfully bright and airy bedrooms complete with typical cottage-style bed linen and furniture. To the rear of the property there are two courtyards set with sufficient furniture and a barbecue for them summer evenings. St. Ishmaels is a delightful little village in South Wales. Milford Haven sits just over 6 miles away and is one of the more popular Welsh seaside resorts, offering quirky shops and tearooms as well as a beautiful marina and much more. Twenty minutes walk from the property takes you to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with excellent walking and cycling opportunities to enjoy at any time of the year. A short drive takes you to Martins Haven beach, which is a small pebble beach used as the embarkation point for the Skomer Island boats. This is a great place for watching dolphins, puffins, seals etc, a great place for naturalists to enjoy. A cosy, traditional Pembrokeshire cottage.

St. Ishmaels is a pretty village with a pub, visiting butcher and grocery vans and a daily milk delivery. Just 4 miles away is the wonderful coastal village of Dale, with its array of watersports, sure to be a magnet for the boaters in your party. Fantastically scenic sandy beaches abound on this wonderful Pembrokeshire coastline, and the renowned coastal path is a must for any walkers. Throughout this south west corner of Wales there are castles and old mills to explore, villages with unique shops and tea rooms, and short boat trips will take you to peaceful bird sanctuaries at Skomer and Ramsey, or to the magnificent monastic island of Caldey to step back in time and enjoy the luxurious chocolate made by the monks, which may well be the best kept secret in Wales. Whatever you are looking for, anytime of the year, this is a perfect location for all ages to have an excellent holiday.

" The Owner Pauline had left cakes for us in our arrival which was a very kind touch. Would recommend. "

" Enjoyed the complementary cakes. We did get whiffs of heating oil from the tank outside the kitchen window every now and then, but nothing that bothered us. "

" Pembrokeshire is a very dog friendly place. Would highly recommend this cottages. Pauline and Eric were very helpful and friendly. Our Brock(the collie) is going home for a rest. We will be back in the future. "

" It was perfect for us comfy and very well equipped, even our dogs were catered for with towels and bowls! We met the owners who were lovely people and they were very kind when we managed to break a jug. We loved the area, great coastal walks and beaches from the doorstop, we even swam in the sea without wetsuits! It’s a shame the village pub has closed, but there’s a great sports and social club by a cricket pitch, all very friendly! All in all we’ll be back and many thanks to Pauline and Eric. "

" A lovely quiet spot to relax as well as a great base for exploring the Pembrokeshire coastline with our two dogs . Spotless clean on arrival, very warm and cosy. Good size kitchen and very well stocked, I easily cooked all our meals through the week. Fresh flowers and cake on our arrival which was most welcome. Good parking facilities. "

" We enjoyed returning to it at the end of a day's exploring. The owner, Pauline left us a Bara Brith, Welsh cakes and flowers which were much appreciated. The village has no shops and the local pub is now closed and for sale. Other visitors should be warned that there are no other items of food in the cottage not even salt and pepper. Most cottages that we've stayed in carry a few essentials, (lack of them may be due to Covid). THe nearest place to do a grocery shop is Milford Haven about 6 miles away or Haverfordwest. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends. "

" Low ceilings and doors, just as a cottage should be! There was everything you needed in the cottage from a cheese grater to a cafeteire. There are masses of wonderful beaches and walks within a half hour drive, many that are nearer. I would certainly go back again. "

" The local pub was right next to the cottage and served good food but only allowed our dog in the garden. The weather was quite hot when we were there and with no umbrellas or shade we only visited once, every other pub elsewhere welcomed dogs inside but were all a car journey away. "

" “St Ishmaels is a lovely little village, with a nice pub in the centre and close to the coastal path. The cottage was as per the photos and has been recently decorated. It is warm and cosy and has everything you need - the owners contacted us to make sure we had everything we needed and were very generous with their welcome pack, providing logs for the fire etc... We had a great time exploring the area and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.” "

" The oil fired central heating worked a treat and had the place warmed up in no time. WiFi was very good and reliable, the kitchen was well fitted out and equipped and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable with good quality bedding - all in all a cozy place to stay. The cottage is well located for local walks and plenty of places for the coastal path are easy to get to by car as are the towns of Pembroke, Milford Haven and Haverford West. We were looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay and this went on to tick all the boxes for us. There is a local pub a short walk away and we visited four of the five nights we were there, staff and customers were friendly and a decent choice of beers were on tap as well - the only slight downside to it was that there was no food available, I think that may well be a seasonal thing as the leaflet/menu for the pub (in the cottage) looked good - but perhaps our stay in February was a little early for that - it wasn't a problem as we shopped accordingly. There is a washing machine and dryer available in the connected 'outhouse' which all looked fine although it wasn't a facility that we needed to use. Pauline the owner called to make sure everything was OK and to check we were happy with things and whether of not there was anything we needed. The fresh flowers on the dining room table, the packet of Welsh Cakes and the loaf of Bara Brith were a nice touch as well. It was all good and there wasn't anything we didn't like, if we were to be picky then I'd say the water pressure for the shower wasn't fantastic BUT to be clear it wasn't a problem and there was ample hot water for showering and bathing. "

Evening meals at The Griffin, Dale and The Swan, Little Haven were excellent. Good pub food at The Grove Inn, St Ishmaels For anyone visiting Pembrokeshire for a first time, St David's is a must do!” "

"The house is badly in need of professional decorating, inside and out. What the photos don't show is that this is the scruffiest looking house on the scruffiest looking street in the village. It was at least pretty clean although would benefit from a thorough spring clean. It's dark and smelt musty every time we walked in. It's not very welcoming to come back to after having been out walking all day. I would give it 3 out of 5, which means I wouldn't go back I'm afraid. A vase of flowers and a few Welsh cakes waiting for us on arrival don't make up for what feels like a neglected property. Needs more attention to detail. The location is ok but there is only one place in the village to get food and that's the village pub which serves very average food. If you want a decent meal then you have to drive elsewhere. Only a 20 minute walk from the stunning coastal cliffs though."

Although the cottage is not high end it was perfect for us as when you have young children and a dog it’s important that you can relax in your surroundings.
