    About this property

Abergavenny 4 miles. A very high quality holiday cottage, in a rural location in Coed Morgan, 4 miles from Abergavenny. This expertly constructed annex, attached to the owner's home, retains character features while incorporating modern, eco-friendly amenities, with ground source underfloor heating, a complete air venting system and a heat recovery system, along with the highest quality furnishings. With the living accommodation on the first floor, large picture windows make the most of the wonderful views over the wildlife pond and the beautiful countryside surrounding the cottage. The two exquisite bedrooms on the ground floor have built-in wardrobes, and both have external doors to the pretty patio areas. The main bedroom has a most unusual bath, filled with a waterfall instead of the usual taps. Wake to the dawn chorus of birds, and you may see pheasants or even receive a visit from the woodpeckers and kingfisher. From the granite worktops to the surround sound system, nothing has been spared to ensure the quality and desirability of this superb cottage. Enter by the patio doors on the ground floor or the wonderful external stone steps into the living area, and you may well decide to just stay in and enjoy the relaxation, but do take a stroll around the wildlife pond or through the woodland, or venture out a little to explore this beautifully scenic part of Wales. The countryside walks, the cycle paths, the historic castles and the renowned restaurants in the area all beckon you on wonderful excursions but you will be more than ready to return to this outstanding cottage, not only on this holiday, but on many return visits too.

Beautiful views can be enjoyed in every direction from the pretty market town of Abergavenny. The River Usk flows through the town, which offers plenty to keep every visitor happy including a castle with a museum; interesting churches; a bustling indoor market hall, and a great choice of shops, pubs and restaurants to appeal to all tastes and budgets. You'll find something different to discover everyday here – there's a wealth of fascinatingabbeys, castles, mining museums, and the Roman amphitheatre and baths nearby at Caerleon to enjoy when you come to this lovely area. The Wye Valley and the stunning Brecon Beacons offer fabulous walking, cycling and nature watching opportunities to those visitors who love the great outdoors.

" Front view watching birds in the garden. Fabulous walking area "
    Mr Gower, March 2019 ‐ 1 Mar 2019
" Nicest garden I have seen at a holiday cottage. Already booked for next year. "
    Mr White-aldworth ‐ 1 Sep 2018
"On the subject of comfort we found the mattresses and pillows too hard and the leather sofas uncomfortable for those without long legs. In all other respects the accommodation was excellent and the surroundings very attractive and peaceful."

"This is a wonderful place to stay- the interior is fantastic - the gardens amazing! We stayed here for that very hot week at the end of July- so we stayed outside most of the day. I would stay here again come rain or shine as its such a super place and location. The owners were also friendly and helpful."
    - Ketts2012, March 2014
"As a holiday cottage, this one is a fabulous airy contemporary place to stay, ideally situated for Abergavenny which is a 10 minute drive and Monmouth 20 minutes away. The property sits in a quiet spot 1/2 a mile down a one track lane in a small hamlet and, although it's attached to the owner's property, if it's peace and quiet you want, this is the place for you. As a couple we found the main upstairs living area spacious and very comfortable, with reasonable mod cons. The downstairs bedrooms are refreshingly modern, no chintz or floral, 'olde world' which makes a welcome change. I did battle with the shower in the wet room, which had 5 separate shower features, I never did work out how to just get the one I wanted running on it's own at any one time, but variety is the spice of life. The other great thing about the cottage was that it was constantly warm and, if you are of a nesh disposition, then the wood burning stove can kick out some real heat. The overall result is a cozy warm venue and night with a lovely light airy feeling during the day. Definitely one of the better places to stay."
    - Mrs Palgrave, January 2017
"A beautiful cottage situated in a stunning wildlife garden. Cosy and comfortable with all the facilities we needed and many more. Helpful, friendly owners made this a perfect holiday stay."
    - Mr Quince, February 2017
"First class accommodation & location. Views over the garden & adjoining countryside were some of the best we have had. Hosts friendly & very helpful. A relaxing & stress-free break."
    - emelian, March 2014
"My wife and I visiting from Australia wanted to visit South Wales and try out a few of the local restaurants around abergavenny. Picked this place off the Internet and have not been disappointed. Accomodation and grounds are superb, owners that live next door extremely nice and accomodating with help on local area. Visited coal mine nearby and was well worth it especially as it was free to go down the mine. Pheasants walking around in the garden, beautifully peacefull place."

"The cottage is set in a beautiful location and is a peaceful tranquil hideaway. It has a multitude of wildlife to keep you entertained. There are many good walks in the area and the nearby town of Abergavenny has something of interest for everyone."

"We loved the Granary and its idyllic setting with an enormous array of wildlife. The accommodation was second to none with all the modern tech you could wish for. A warm welcome on arrival gave a personal touch, the owners were on hand throughout our stay for any needs. A truly amazing place to stay, highly recommended."

    Mrs Dawn Jones, Stroud, Gloucestershire
"It was well equipped, the garden was beautiful, and the scenery and the place was stunning. If you love wildlife this is the place for you. We will definitely go back. The photos don't do it justice. It is so peaceful and tranquil, you can really unwind. There is so much wildlife to watch, you really don't need to go anywhere. The owners are a very lovely couple and so kind. I will book 2 weeks next time it was that good. I cannot describe how beautiful it was, just go there and you will know what I mean."
    Mrs Jacqueline Lewis, Towcester, Northamptonshire

I have stayed at The Granary on 5 occasions now and each stay has been as good as the previous. The owners are very accommodating and very friendly."
    Mr Nicklaus Brizee, Waterlooville, Hampshire
"Wonderful views and surroundings. When you get there, it's better than the photos on the website."
Mr Eric Sagar, Bradford, West Yorkshire
"It was not a holiday, but a business trip. I fell in love with the Granary upon arrival and it did not let me down in the slightest. My experience was limited due to work commitments, but I loved my stay there so much so that I have already booked additional weeks in February and March."

"Best holiday we have had in years."
    - Mrs Clark, April 2018
"The setting is idyllic and Bill & Brenda Owens were perfect hosts. We LOVED watching the birdlife out the huge picture windows (ducks, moorhens and a family of pheasants) and the flowering garden was gorgeous. If you are lucky enough to book The Granary, you will have a wonderful holiday!"
    - Mrs Blayney, April 2018
"Your website lists it as “an annex to the owner’s home” and can be easily misconstrued as an annex building needn’t share a wall. All that said, Brenda and Bill are good hosts ... when I mentioned that my 82 year old mom feels the cold (anything below 20 deg C is cold for her!!), they very kindly turned up the underfloor heating. Would gladly return as we have family in Abergavenny."
    - Mrs Trollope, May 2018
    "Thank you Bill and Brenda."
    - Dr Alton, July 2018

"Whilst The Granary is located on very pretty grounds, what potential renters should be made aware of is the fact that the actual accommodation is only 1/3 of the barn conversion; 2/3s belong to the owners. Your website lists it as “an annex to the owner’s home” and can be easily misconstrued as an annex building needn’t share a wall. All that said, Brenda and Bill are good hosts ... when I mentioned that my 82 year old mom feels the cold (anything below 20 deg C is cold for her!!), they very kindly turned up the underfloor heating. "The setting is beautiful and peaceful and the accommodation manages to be both very stylish and very comfortable with a bit of a boutique hotel feel. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We loved birdwatching from our sofa through the big picture window. Many thanks to the owners for their care and attention to detail."
Mr David Rea, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire
"The location was great, and the property was lovely - spacious, light and homely."
