About this property

Cuckooland is a fab family holiday cottage in the pretty seaside village of Borth y Gest on the Llyn Peninsula. It is bright and welcoming and set in a peaceful location, just back from the pretty bay. There’s a village green for the children to play on, as well as pretty courtyards where the adults can sit and enjoy the evening sun with a glass of wine. This is a great holiday cottage!

The living space is open plan and encompasses the kitchen, sitting and dining areas. The sitting room has a comfy corner sofa and a separate chair with a Smart TV. To one side of the sitting area is a dining table and chairs, sitting up to six people.

The kitchen has all you need with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and toaster. There is a tumble dryer in the rear courtyard store.

The first bedroom has twin beds with a Smart TV and ensuite with shower, loo and wash hand basin. These beds can be made up as a king bed by prior request. The second bedroom has a double bed, views out across the bay and a Smart TV.

The second bathroom is nearly an ensuite, being right next door to the double bedroom! This has a bath with shower over, loo and wash hand basin.

Cuckooland has the benefit of no less than two courtyards! One at the front and one at the back of the holiday cottage. Sit out in either - garden furniture is provided in both - and soak up the sunshine! In the evenings, sit with a glass of wine and turn on the pretty lights. The back courtyard has a gate that leads to the village green. There is parking for two cars.

Borth y Gest is an end village in that once you get there, you have to turn around to get back out - very quaint! From here you can stroll along the coastal path to gorgeous, sandy beaches. There is a popular cafe and a lovely restaurant overlooking the bay here. Porthmadog is just a five minute drive away where you’ll find shops, places to eat and steam train rides. Attractions, activities and some of the best bits of the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia are close by.

Borth y Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth y Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway? For a day trip the entire Llyn Peninsula calls. With Anglesey within reach and the whole North Wales coast with the Wales Coast Path to be explored, Borth y Gest has it all: a quiet bolt hole but conveniently located for ease of access to this stunning area, a must at any time of the year.

I just felt it was a con and I was not wrong. In the past we have booked with Quality Cottages, which I have always recommended to other clients/customers, unfortunately due to your admin process and the charges that you charge for changes, unless it is a short term booking, I would avoid booking with you again. Thanks

It is very comfortable and clean, with everything we needed - except a cheese grater! The only other criticism would be that the duvets were much too hot - some lighter weight, lower tog-rated ones would have been preferred (especially as we were there in an unseasonable heatwave!) All in all it lived up to expectations and we would happily go there again.

A great location. Was a bit confused by the recycling of rubbish as it just appears to be burnt - we actually took a lot home with us to recycle! Would highly recommend this property
